@@martinchambers9918 hello there, likewise, I was at the C building for a while, it was when we did the refit, new panels, antennas etc. Made a break from B building stress 😁

The main transmitter hall of B building was underground accessed via a blast doored tunnel. The buildings above ground were admin, engineering and technical as well as the switching stations and feeder huts. I never got to see A building which was highly classifed.

As best I can remember, ... B Building originally had HS51 HF 30kW transmiitters, and provided international point-to-point speech and telegraphy services which later moved to satellite and undersea cables. Later, some HS51s were replaced with 10kW MFT (Marconi Fast Tune) HF transmitters for the Skybird (?) ground-to-aircraft service. Later, B building was co-occupied by O2. A building was equipped with DS13 12kW HF transmitters for ship-to-shore speech and telegraphy services. They were controlled from Burnham Radio Station, which is where the telephone operators worked. The receiver side of the communications cct was at Sommerton Radio Station. C building was more secret, it housed the 500 kW VLF transmitter GBR, the MF transmitters GBW,X,Y and Z, and the 60 kHz standard frequency and time service MSF. Later, another transmitter was installed to provide the LORAN service. A and B buildings had basements. A's contained the central heating boiler and some storerooms. B's contained a snooker table, and the battery room. C building did not have a basement. It did have a "refuge" with a very strong door. The list of stations I worked at/visited; Anthorn (VLF), Bearley (Rx), Bodmin (HF), Burnham (operators), Criggion (VLF), Cullercoats (Coast), Fort Patrick (Coast), Leafield (HF), Mablethorpe (Coast), Madeley SES (Sat), Niton (Coast), Ongar (HF), Rugby A,B,C, (HF/VLF), and Sommerton (Rx). I never got to visit Holyhead, Lands End, North Foreland or Wick (and I expect there were others, too).

@@perezgiovanni12 It became obsolete, they had no use for it as it only transmitted very low frequencies. They are now turning into a school now.

I was one of the last people to leave Station B. Shame it's become so dilapidated in such a short space of time. Incidentally, the RTC was actually over the road in Station C.

Interesting location, but you desperately need to invest in some stabilization gear and/or learn how to do videos without constant shaking. If you're unwilling to do that, abandoned places are one of those rare subjects that usually look better in picture than they do in video.

A fascinating place as radio is a great passion of mine. But this video was completely ruined for me by waving the camera round like a windmill I couldn't watch more than a few minutes because I was feeling seasick! Plus, I could feel a migraine coming on.

A few people think this building is still standing - let me assure you - it is *FLATTENED* - this building was on the EAST side of the A5 BEHIND the old cricket pavilion aka Rugby Amateur Transmitting society The pavilion is also FLAT - (RATS moved to Brownsover) The preserved building is on the WEST side of the A5 - this one ISN'T. Am i sure ? TOTALLY! Look at my channel - i was stood in front of the Pavillion the day the masts were demolished.
