Can’t tell you how many times I was in that mall. In the 1960s & 70s the arched building was a Grand-Way store. What’s a Grand-Way? Grand Union Supermarkets combo grocery and discount department store. Just like the Shop-Rite 0.9 miles south on 17. The 70s style brown building was a branch of Columbia Savings and Loan. The low section was a Pergament Home Center. The last building was built around 1974 as a stand alone Grand Union supermarket.

For the people that don't know. This is on Route 17 just south of Linwood Avenue. I used to pass there on my way to Tower Records(!)

The building shaped as a Quonset hut, round shape of the front of the building, looks like like it was the Grand Way Supermarket on Rte. 17, when I was a small child my parents went there to shop. Grand Way had food section and I think some clothing.

I would say the building with the arched roof was originally a Kohl’s Grocery Store.

I lived 15 minutes from that old plaza on 17. Back in the 90s it got a lot of business. I’m just surprised they haven’t pulled it down like the old Alexander’s which is now an IKEA.

I used to live down here it was a very surreal experience for the stop and shop, pretty sad to see the place go, I never really went to the Kmart though because stop and shop was right there, right now I’m pretty sure the only thing holding the complex up is a dollar store, and a garden center, after that the city said they would turn it into something else. A pretty terrifying experience just seeing part of my childhood in a abysmal state.

The arched building is a Safeway, I believe.

Apparently, the plan when Stop & Shop closed was that the complex would be knocked down for something. I assume probably a medical facility because that's all that Paramus will be in the near future.

Valley Hospital is moving to a new building just north of Paramus Park Mall (a largely dead shopping mall with many empty stores). Likely this site will be redeveloped into medical offices and services.

The arch in front suggests this is a former Penn Fruit supermarket.

Abandoned shopping plaza but the grounds and the parking lot are still fairly well maintained. Fresh mulch, mowed, trimmed grass, fresh paint on the parking lot
