For about 70 years the Monongahela Railway was in operation on a short spur that started at the Union Station in Brownsville PA and travelled south through the Century Coke oven works, traversing the Dunlap Creek with majestic brick arched bridges (still exist--see www.stuffthatsgone.com) on its way to hooking up with the Pennsylvania Railroad Mainline at Davidson/Allison PA. The Simpson Tunnel still exists as well, but is very difficult to get to. This tunnel goes under the original alignment of Route 40 National Road, a street that is so steep it is no longer used.
