I lived in Goodsprings for three years 2017- 2020. Never saw one cow!

Yea the cattle ranching industry dropped off there after the 90s when the town had its first collapse. Now it appears Goodsprings has no industry outside of tourism and being about 30 mins from Vegas.

@@abandonedhistoryUS No cows but there were some very ornery Donkeys that would walk through town just looking for a fight with the Blue Healer and wild horses near Mt Potosi. The Saloon was a weekend destination for Bikers from all over. Vegas only 30 minutes away, Vegas buffets and hiking to gold mines in the desert mountains. What could be better!

Travelers continued to stop by Goodsprings and with more trade along I-15 after the NCR took control of it. The Brotherhood would patrol Goodsprings and other settlements in agreement with the NCR keeping remaining legionaries from establishing a new outpost within the mist. With New Vegas' independence formally declared in agreement with both the NCR and Brotherhood. More travelers would stop by Goodsprings on their way to and from the Strip, and the locals grew prosperous from the traffic.

Small town with good people. The burgers there are great. I stop there every time I run a load across 15. If you go there on the weekends you may even meet what I call waste landers. They spend most there time out in far parts of the desert and stop at the bar there all the time. Also if you are there in the morning you will literally get the freshest eggs ever. Walk down the block and pic the eggs from the hen house.

Fallout New Vegas is one of the best games and stories of our Modern Era. Hands down, along with Bioshock, to have the most interesting and practical take on politics and ideology in a Dystopian, “fictional,” world.

I agree entirely! I own all the bio shock games but couldn’t get into it. I have to give it another try!

@@abandonedhistoryUS the gameplay form the first game is dated compared to modern fps games. But, if you don’t know the story already it’s a truly interesting ride. If you know the story then I say watch analysis videos, and the main idea of all these games are “How real is choice?”

Nevada seems like the type of place where you'd find lots of ghost towns. Centralia, Pennsylvania is an interesting ghost town on the other side of the country.

Thanks for your comment. Yea I noticed the same thing during my research, quite a few abandoned towns littered throughout its desert. Centralia is one of the places that inspired me to make this channel. If you haven’t seen it (I’m sure you have) but I really recommend “Bright suns” video covering the town.

Great second video in this series! It's fascinating how it still operates today and a game was able to prop up the population -- reminds me of the boom that Alberqurcue got after Breaking Bad. I also think that your editing has gotten so much better - it's awesome.

I love the comparison with Albuquerque, Goodsprings is an interesting little example of how a tiny bit of marketing can go a long way
