OK....Why Dancing Queen??!! 2 reasons.
1. Since learning to play this wonderful instrument I have learned to appreciate different types of music a bit. Not a Disco fan by a long shot but I actually kind of like the Bee Gee's especially. Dancing Queen's groove is a classic "Pea Soup" Disco beat that is quite infectious and fun to play. When played live in the 70's a real drummer had to lay down this sweet and simple groove and stick to it. Quite meditative to play actually, and for this beginner a lot of fun!
2. When I went for lessons my teacher would incorporate a random groove to put a little fun into the lesson. One day he had me doing this one without the backing music and when I finally was able to get that "Extra Snare" note that sneaks in occasionally he asked me if I knew what song this belonged to. When he told me it was Dancing Queen I was a bit surprised.
BTW the "Extra Snare" note "sneaks" in about 34 times during the song so the challenge here (aside from dealing with my shin cramping up from the constant open Hi Hats..lol) was to get them all committed to memory. I might have missed 1...lol!
As always....Thanks for watching!
