I first heard this song back in 2001 (I was only 11). My Dad bought a CD - More ABBA Gold as a present for me and when I came home this very song was playing. I instantly fell in love with it. 21 years later everytime I listen to this song it still reminds me of that happy day. So I still enjoy it a lot.

Giventoe the 3rd for today for me😊 I do I do I do was probably the first Abba song I heard consciously. I was about 6 years old. I still marvel at their ability to sing these song and they sound so easy but these harmonies are so difficult to sing. Every ABBA song is so complex and yet sound so light. Just amazing. They are such an influence in music. I am very glad a young man like you loves this music and spread the word among young folk❤

The song that made me a lifelong ABBA fan. I had heard Hasta Manana and Honey Honey on the radio and my Mum knew I loved them and then one day we were at an Agricultural Show and they were playing I Do (x5) on a tv screen. My Mum pointed it out to me and my love affair with ABBA began that day, I was 13 years old. So this song will always be special to me. ❤

Hello again GivenToe, nice to see you again with our ABBA Journey After the extraordinary success with "Waterloo" it took a long time for ABBA to ratify this success and demonstrate that the victory at Eurovision was not going to be a lucky and isolated success. "I do I do I do I do I do" (1975) was one of the songs that they tried this song is a beautiful melody, I think it reminds of the 50s, the voices and harmonies of the girls, the blonde Agnetha & and the brunette Frida are perfect, the song leaves a happy feeling the official video is simple and nice shows all four ABBA members, but the center is in the ladies Agnetha & Frida these video is one of four filmed at the same time in only two days the other three videos was for the songs: S.O.S. ; Mamma Mía ; Bang a Boomerang (if you pay atention, the outfits of Agnetha and Frida, are the same that the official video of "Mamma Mia") in UK it did not enter the Top 30 but the surprise was in Australia, which gave them their first #1 there (3 weeks) follow by "Mamma Mía" & "S.O.S " with two another #1 consecutives (all three #1 in a row, in 14 consecutives weeks) in U.K. when seeing that event they published "S.O.S." and picks #6 and in U.S. they first edited "S.O.S." and reached #15 on Billboard, follow by "I do I do I do I do I do" with another #15 these is because ABBA have different company records in each countries, and each company decide wich song was released that's why the chronology was different: Europe: I do (x5)/ S.O.S./ Mamma Mía U.S.: S.O.S./ I do (x5)/ Mamma Mía Australia: I do (x5)/ Mamma Mía/ S.O.S. and then the ABBA's series of global successes will already be continuous between 1975/1982 As you did before reactions to the official videos of: "S.O.S." (1975) & "Mamma Mía" (1976) the other video to next reaction is: "Bang a Boomerang" (1975) it´s a really banger See you later in next videos I wish You a great weekend Best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

This song did farely well in The Netherlands when it came out. The girls voices are totally abba here, as they sounded later on. They look at you and you just melt when they sing i love you. By the way, bang a boomerang has a video that was made outside in the streets being very happy the 4 of them, and it is an uptempo song.

This was the first ABBA #1 in New Zealand and Australia, really starting their huge resurgence after the post-Waterloo singles didn't do so well. I ALWAYS agree with your takes on ABBA, GivenToe: yeah, despite it being *very* dance band (and yes, it also reminds me of Just A Notion), and it not being one of my favourite ABBA tracks, it always holds a special place for me as one of the earliest ABBA tracks I heard.

Love the sound with the saxophone’s. Again both Benny & Bjorn showing us their multi instrument use. Great song. To repeat a word or use of words multiple times…..well if anyone can, it will of course be ABBA! The can and make it sound great! It was a number one hit for them to. Most of their songs will make you want to dance to. Again, you cannot beat Benny and Bjorn on their songwriting and lyrics, the girls just add to their beautiful vocals to top the lyrics and brilliantly composed tunes. 😊😊👏👏👏👏

Nearly 50 years ago I saw the music video for this song on Australia's 'Countdown' music show. I loved it. Then a few weeks later the host/producer played their 'Mamma Mia' video which we Aussies went crazy for. Eventually their Australian record label got permission from Bjorn/Benny/Stig to release Mamma Mia as a single and it rocketed to #1. Then other countries released it as a single and it did the same. Then Abba-mania happened downunder (see clips from their appearances on the 'I Still Have Faith in You' video. At one stage I think ABBA had 5 singles in the Aussie top 10.

*Another, related point: their song "Money, Money, Money" has as its musical influence or starting point in German cabaret performance of the 1920s. However...that doesn't mean you have to be a BIG FAN of or EXPERT on German 1920s cabaret in order to appreciate the brilliance of the Abba song it exists independently of that particular art form...doesn't it? What do you think, sir?

I'm not a big "DANCE BAND" fan either! Missing the point, my friend! The point actually is, rather, that Abba were so creative in their approach & so inventive in utilising & synthesising their influences & various musical styles into their work, all melded together boldly & emerging in quite a different form... that it is not necessary to be an admirer of the original place of inspiration - even if you're aware of it i'm surprised you don't realise that, sir! you seem otherwise very intelligent & articulate, passionately interested in music a tad disappointing Plus this was one of the songs written & recorded quite early on (1975), when the band's musical style was still being explored & experimented with. None of that is rocket science either, my friend Surprised by your reaction.

This was very popular in Europe, Australia and the US but a relative flop in the U.K. I do remember first listening to this on vinyl and it was quite hard on the ears on those early record players. Nevertheless I have grown to like this over the years and I do like your reaction to this.

Hated it in 1975 when I was 14. Loved Mamma Mia! and SOS instead. Now, aged 62, I am much more forgiving. The girls are of course a 100X better singers than any dance band singers and that helps a lot. The sax is played exquisitely (not by Björn and Benny, mind you, even if it looks that way) and perhaps the arrangements could have been more 'pop'. But, what the heck. It's fun and they actually dare to do this pastiche, that I guess you have to be a Swede to understand. Cheerio Miss Sophie!

My thoughts exactly ! .. Found this song boring in my teens, compared to the passion I had for Mamma Mia and SOS .. As you said, the arrangements were not really pop enough for my tastes, and this tended to make the song sound old-fashioned to me .. And like you, as I've reached my 60s I can now appreciate more aspects of it, even though I still don't love it.
