Looking back folks forget just how "Gangsta!" they were in terms of doing songs. Also keep in mind they did it before any of the technology of today's generation take for granted. It was also the Song that King Hussein of Jordan serenaded his Wife Queen Noor who at the time was known as Lisa Halaby when he asked for her hand in Marriage. It was also a Long Distance Dedication on Casey Kasem's Amerian Top 40 Radio Show. They were also heavily influenced by American Acts from Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Tamla-Motown as it's known in Europe. Their Record Producer Michael Tretow was heavily influenced by Phil Spector The Record Producer.

Thats what a lot of modern performers say. It was taken as throw-away pop in the 70's but then people started to hear the detail in the composition and realised it was more than what you hear and enjoy. Break it down and hear what actually is going on is to truly understand what ABBA was about. 4 people who became famous, disappeared as has-beens, re-ignited in films, and now back to the top of the charts 40 years later. They will still be singing ABBA into the future... they wont be singing as much from the new millennium.

And...like every one of the 16-19 year old guys I knew who denied liking ABBA, I too had a wee bit of a crush on Agnetha. At 61, I still do, LOL. The guys were the songwriting team, when they got rolling and heard the way the ladies voices sounded together I think they must have known they had hit the mother lode. Remember, the harmonies were natural, no auto tune. Perfect harmony.

The two guys in the group, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, wrote almost all of the songs. ABBA was probably the most famous EuroPop group of all time, and they were extremely talented. I don't know if you were aware of this, but the group's name derives from the first letter of each group member's name: Anni-frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Faltskog (first name pronounced like Anyetta). They were actually two married couples (Anni-frid/Benny and Bjorn/Agnetha), but as the marriages fell apart, so did the group. I think every guy I went to high school with, including me, had a mad crush on Agnetha.

Beautiful-but-strong-but-handsome-but-intelligent JayveeTV ... ABBA usually wrote their songs in co-harmony, but usually it was the men at least in the 'director-ship' of it all steering the song and the singers and musicians. With this song in particular, dear Bjorn went on his daily run and then had the song come unto him as he put one foot in front of the other. Like quite a few of those 1970s artists, they still bring so much magic unto both kids and adults who were not necessarily of that era. That is there eternal power that appeals across families.

THIS was actually the first ABBA song I ever heard, _not_ "Dancing Queen", due to a little quirk of fate*. And me and my mom both _instantly_ liked it from within the first ten seconds. Only a few days later, I went out and bought "ABBA Gold" on tape. (Yes, tape. People also bought music in stores when this happened, in the '90s. :D) ...and yes, '90s. Well at least we discovered them EVENTUALLY... :P *A "quirk of fate" known as the Billboard Top 10 Hits of (Year) series, which went from 1955 to 1989, and my family had been collecting them. "Take a Chance On Me" was on the 1978 one and it was love at first hear.

Greetings from Australia 👋😃🐨🦘🦜✨ I really enjoyed your reaction 😊👍 The two guys in the group (Benny Andersson [with the beard] and Björn Ulvaeus) wrote all of ABBA songs, with a bit of occasional help (mainly for things like titles) from their late manager Stig Anderson (no relation to Benny; Benny's last name has two 's's). Frida (the woman with dark red hair) and Agnetha also contributed much to the evolution of ABBA's songs. Benny & Björn also produced the recordings too, along with their studio engineer: Micke B. Tretow. • While ABBA toured (1973 - Sweden, 1975 - Scandinavia, 1977 - Europe & Australia, 1979 - USA & Europe, 1980 - Japan), they were mainly a studio group, so they spent most of their time crafting songs, and trying different treatments for a song with different genre's (and released film-clips in lieu of massive touring schedules; all but two being directed by movie director Lasse Hallström). If they toured a lot during the ABBA years, they would never have also had the time to hone their songs and albums (8 studio albums: 'Ring Ring' - 1973; 'Waterloo' - 1974; 'ABBA' - 1975; 'Arrival' - 1976; 'ABBA the Album' - 1977; 'Voulez-Vous' - 1979; 'Super Trouper' - 1980; 'The Visitors' - 1981) to maintain the evergreen quality that has lasted through to today in the ABBA 'revival' that has ebbed and flowed since 1992). • The only thing that Benny & Björn didn't write, that ABBA recorded, was a medley of three U.S. folk songs for a West German charity in 1975, that was released as the b-side to their 1978 single: 'Summer Night City' • ABBA's music and themes evolved through the years (1972-1982), with many different genres (not just pop and ballad-style, but also early emo/goth, musical, vaudeville, schlager, disco, techno, musical-theatre). • I was wondering if you could please do a reaction to their song, 'The Visitors', from the album with the same name. They didn't release a video for it, but there is a KZitem music link for it... kzitem.info/news/bejne/uJBs3Imaj4Kad4Y Thank you, and take care 👋😃

The dark haired girl married a prince. He passed but she's still royalty. She had a few solo songs after the band's split up. I think her daughter passed away in a car accident. She was around 21 if i remember correctly

Bjorn and Benny, the two bearded dudes, wrote ABBA's songs, for the most part. Bjorn came up with the basis for this one while running, when he naturally found a vocal rhythm that became the "Take-a-chance take-a-chance, take-a-chk-a chance-chance" part. Such a lovely bunch of people.

Love ABBA! My mom had records growing up and would play them when we cleaned! My 13 year old son bought me a record player and one of the ABBA albums my mom had for Christmas. ❤ I love The Name of the Game, Waterloo, Fernando, Ring Ring, Gimme Gimme Gimme a Man After Midnight and many more. You can't go wrong!

I heard years and years ago that the guys in the group are the ones who composed the songs. The big dream that many musical performers in Europe have is to become successful in the United States. This group was able to do that because their songs are in English, and they are Swedish.

Great choice and a great reaction. Loved the way you describe the 'Abba effect' and how one song makes you want to listen to another.

ABBA : Lots of great songs. You will be reacting to them for years, if you plan to get to them all. This song has you moving around. It does that to everybody.

The men write the songs, and the music! They were a complete group- the women had their part- great voices, and attractive- the men wrote /music, and lyrics, and arranged the music instrumentally☺

Bjorn & Benny (the piano player & guitar player) wrote all the songs. Frida released a sols single produced by Phil Collins? 'I know there's Something Going On' In my overinflated opinion definitely worth Tubing for. Love your work. Peace back atcha.
