There are more ABBA fans in Australia per capital than anywhere in the world. Our Molly Meldrum did a lot to get the ABBAmania started as he used to push their songs on our teenage music show called “Countdown”. The show finished with the number one hit for the week and back in the 70s it finished with Fernando for about 14 weeks straight. To be objective, I have to admit that Australia deserves a new ABBA arena. We must also remember that Australia is only 25 million people and with such a population it will be difficult to ensure such viewership as in London. This is a simple calculation from Europe to London is not far away, there are hundreds of millions of people here, which makes it easy to fill the ABBA Arena. The team members themselves will decide if it is to be Australia this is very good because what counts is the popularity that Abba has gained in Australia.

The major initial difficulty for the project of another ABBA-VOYAGE show in a new country is undoubtedly to find a large building plot very close to a very important city since it cannot be accommodated in a already existing room, the ARENA being designed as a whole: architectural, technological package, artistic visual and sound quality, viewing of the spectators. Australia seems probably more suitable (the possible site of Germany proposed having been deemed too far from a major centre). I don't know if Las Vegas could host such a project without being very expensive, but the possible choice of Singapore leaves me perplexed as to a possible fan base.
@andrewjenkinson7052

Have you been to ABBA Arena? It is not in a very big plot if land. Admittedly it does not need a car park having a station just across the road. I think an office block would require a larger site.

The show is beyond amazing but other locations will be a different type of challenge. The UK are massive Abba fans and are big ticket buyers. Although it will be virtually, no pun intended, the same show, the whole marketing campaign will have to be so so different in a different place on Planet Earth. London and Abba Voyage is a perfect marriage. Berlin would be the second easiest to do. Whilst the stage show Mamma Mia! is global this is such a different (and a very expensive) product that I think it is quite risky and somewhat daring to open other locations....
@andrewjenkinson7052

The ABBATARS must have been a substantial initial cost. Also the design of the Arena exists. They may tweek it a bit but that should not cost much. It is not as if they will be building something not knowing if it will be popular.

Speaking from Australia that would be an absolute dream come true. But I wouldn’t have thought the population was large enough here for them to recoup their costs. So When Singapore was mooted earlier this year, that seemed more realistic given it’s a hub destination between here and Asia. Unless a state government decides it’s a likely tourism drawcard and chips in a very big sum of money. Years ago the Victorian government put up loads of money to build the tennis centre that kept the Australian Open as a Grand Slam (coincidentally at the apex of Swedish champions like Edberg and Willander). A deal between Tasmania and the AFL (football) to get a team down there in return for a new stadium in Hobart has gone down like a lead balloon with many, given the housing crisis everywhere. I can’t see any other state government having the nerve to spend money like that at present.

Given the proven success of the Voyage show I am sure ABBA would not be short of investors to build a dozen replicas. A replica would be far cheaper than the original as the ABBATARS can be cloned, the build costs are known and planning should not be a problem. It would be a nice (and profitable) gesture from ABBA to offer priority tickets in advance at a small discount. I am sure fans in each country would love to take part in such an "investment" to ensure it comes to their country early. ABBA should research this possibility. Possibly issuing "early purchase" certificates.

There isn't the population in Australia to support Voyage, unless they can stage it in an already-established venue. It's also expensive to travel to Oz from practically anywhere. Singapore makes more sense as it's far more accessible. Then, of course, there's the US.
@chelseacharger
Жыл бұрын
Singapore seems likely to be the next destination. But potential venues need two things. A large metropolitan population and it also needs to be a city with big visitor numbers. Las Vegas has also been considered. If we compare Sydney with Las Vegas, we see that Sydney has double the resident population. Of course Las Vegas depends hugely on its tourist trade and it gets 6.6m visitors per year. But Sydney is quite a tourist destination itself with 4.1m annually. Sydney is equidistant between other big cities in Melbourne and Brisbane too. A lot of the initial investment was taken up by developing the avatars and devising this project. As with any innovation, the technology becomes cheaper as it is a case of simply duplicating many of the things. I think we'll se 'Voyage' in all these places in time.

Hej Andrew, that version is so beautiful, isn't it? It was very typical for ABBA to record their songs through many variations and arrangements, until they were satisfied. Unfortunately, we don't have too many transmissions of it, but there are a few: • "Happy Hawaii" is an early version of "Why Did It Have To Be Me", already released in 1977 as a single B-side. • "Dream World" is an outtake and standalone song from 1978, but it has melody fragments that would become "Does Your Mother Know". It was released in 1994, like the early version of "Thank You For The Music". • also in 1994, they released "ABBA Undeleted", a 23-minute medley of 16 outtakes. You will hear many unreleased songs in it, but also early versions of ABBA's familiar songs: an instrumental early take of "Take A Chance On Me" called "Billy Boy"; an early version of "Rock Me" sang by Agnetha called "Baby"; an early Tango-style version of "Fernando" (in Swedish); and the original 1978 version of "Just A Notion". • in 2012, ABBA released "From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel", a 9-minute medley combining five early variations of "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" from 1981. You may also find an early version of "My Love, My Life" on the internet. It's called "Monsieur, Monsieur", but was never released on record, only broadcast on radio in 1976, and thus is obscured by some dialogue. I hope I could help you out!

From what I have heard, Chicago has a lot of run down sites. It is also third largest by population after New York City and Los Angeles. I went to ABBA Voyage last week and it dawned on me that there are currently 20 songs in the concert, but they wore the motion capture suits for 25, so at first it looks like they have another 5 songs to either add or swap with the current playlist, BUT some of the songs in Voyage don't involve the ABBAtar motion-capture, such as Eagle, so it might be more like 7 or 8 other songs that are still there to be added. There were rumours that the setlist would change for the 1st anniversary show (it didn't) but I think it's more likely to change next year for the Waterloo anniversary or when a new Voyage arena opens somewhere.
