Many many blessings to the man that I think is now a hero. And I pray that the survivor of the kidnapping and rape finds peace and serenity in her life, and that she gets the help she needs. My heart goes out to this precious young lady. What she went through will affect her for years to come. When something like this happens to someone, it's something that will always be there. You can't undo it. But you can heal. She seems like a strong person. Even after going through all this, she considers herself blessed. Unfortunately not in her case some little kids told the man that stopped that they had been hearing the screams and banging from the house for a hole week. It’s in the live video he did when he called the police. The neighbors nobody did anything. So she is blessed that man walked passed and cared enough to help.

Both the lady and her rescuer sound like remarkable people. Hopefully they can both unite to turn their community around. The male activist certainly sounded like he had some brilliant ideas for building a healthy community and uses for those vacant properties. Maybe getting some social media property flippers on board your change agents committee would be a good idea. Also someone who is good at using online social funding development platforms... also someone who is good talking with local government and businesses. Also consider developing a community garden in that local area as that a good way of building community and traction.

Thank God the man was walking by, heard and helped the woman. He is a God send. I can almost imagine the woman's heart ache being trapped in there, chained up, hand cuffed not knowing if she would get out. This almost happened to me when I was in my early twenties. I was walking home from the store and this guy started talking to me, he put his arm around me and was trying to lead me down the street to this house. I faked a stomach ache and he let me go. I will never forget that. It was scary and I'm grateful nothing happened. I pray they catch him so he can't do this to anyone else.

All I can say is men like him give me hope for the city. He didn't do what many would just walk away. He's a hero on many levels. People don't realize maybe because of movies and TV. Being a hero doesn't have to be risking your life. Sometimes it's just doing the right thing. Sometimes it seems we get so detached we forget little things can have big impacts.

When you live in a neighborhood & go to local stores you see familiar faces in passing ..just because you spoke to someone & said hello to them a couple of times doesn’t mean you know them personally…however if youre a girl in your 30’s a man in his 60’s would be considered an elder to you. That & seeing him a few times would explain her feeling comfortable enough to walk over

@@NikkiDreadlocks I dunno..maybe times have changed. I grew up in Roseland/West Pullman 116th & Lafayette ...thas less a mile where this took place. Everybody in that area knew each other because we had block parties, neighbors talked, everything was routine. Even if u didn't know them somebody in the area knew. Granted this was back in the late 70s & 80s. So I guess maybe tye community just got ignorant & stopped caring.

Damn that neighborhood looks terrible. I remember Eggleston street from over 35 years ago and this is completely unrecognizable in this report. Thank God for the community activists. Ladies: Its almost ALWAYS someone you know.
