The lesson that we're learning from Akasaka Aka (the author of the Oshi no Ko manga) is that Abiko-sensei and GOA are both victims of the miscommunication. In part, Abiko-sensei doesn't understand how the different medium works, but also GOA isn't receiving proper communication and is literally being led astray from what both he and Abiko-sensei want by internal politics. If she and GOA had simply spoken directly from the beginning she would not have overreacted and she would have understood that the stage play was in good hands.

And on the stageplay, the scriptwriter's name is on the posters and credits. So if it's bad, he clearly will get all the bad feedback.

The blame is not on Abiko's care for faithful adaptation nor on GOA's efforts. The issue is that Abiko's anger is misdirected to GOA because of her poor social skills and inexperience in how stage production works.
@originaldarkwater

This is exactly what I was thinking, too. Yuriko outright says that Abiko is lacking in social graces because she's always holed up drawing manga. Her outburst is not meant to be seen as good or justified, she's just lashing out because she's upset about what happened to Sweet Today and doesn't want her work to suffer the same fate. It's a perfectly human reaction, but not meant to be a model for how to handle such situations.

11:20 This is a hard disagree for me. In the case of adaptations, even if they're "ass", the original author themselves almost never get flack. A large majority if not the entirety of the audience that looks at an adaptation critically are fans* who love the original work. Only the scriptwriters get shit on, sometimes along with the production staff. You can always look at Anime Live Action Adaptations as evidence. And in this particular case, Abiko wants to make it good not because she's looking for the public's praise or to protect her reputation as a talented author. That's just a small part of it. She mostly wants her work to get adapted properly after seeing what happened with Sweet Today. 14:03 Yeah, Prez was kinda right for the POSITIVE results, although not entirely. The author gets credit, but GOA is exaggerating when he said that ALL credit goes to the author. I disagree that the same happens for the NEGATIVE results, and the first part of my comment explains that.

It should be obvious. 7:00 The manga creator and the scriptwriter shouldn't be at each others throats, because "thanks" to most of people in the middle, feedback from the manga creator to scriptwriter is getting lost.😂 Great reaction!😃
@saito454

For me, if I am the scriptwriter that would be very harsh if the author said it to me. The scriptwriter just followed the instructions handed over to him. The author and the scriptwriter is not at fault. Just a big miscommunication due to how the process works. Reality wise, lets put it on the manga anime scenario. If the adaptation is bad it will not all be the authors to received the bad comments but the animation studio (at least for the ones who already read the manga).

Cara has a great soul. She'd never make it in Hollyweird! Back-biting, harsh criticism, lack of chemistry, budget cuts, yelling, selfish demands, script rewrites right before recording, 20 takes of the same scene because you didn't capture the director's vision. Then you have the media/public to answer to afterwards. Today's youth is too soft to handle how things really work. They want everything vanilla and happy endings at every step or else the system is somehow wrong.

Abiko sensei is in assumption that her message would be forwarded to the scriptwriter properly, but due to the middlemen mistranslating her message the scriptwriter seems like an idiot who didn't try his best and shouldn't write in the first place to Abiko sensei so it's a fair feedback from her imo

I wish every author was like abiko when it comes to adaptions of theyr work. Utterly ruthles and uncompromissing, not allowing for anyone to mess with their work. Of course in this specific case Goa was not at fault, it was the people between them that miscomunicated. But I have seen to many times how screenwritters just disregard the original work, the author and the fans and outright insult and berate them and then go and use the name of the authors work for their own goals. One example would be netflix witcher series.

The fine touch in the dubbing: at the end of the first episode that “all” has the tone from the point of view of the cast of the show, at the beginning of this episode it is said in an innocent tone, since the author of the manga does not know the internal dynamics of the show business and says it as if it were a small thing. In fact, an identical situation to this story occurred in Japan this spring in a TV drama based on a manga. Unfortunately, the producer and screenwriter were different people from the ones portrayed in "Oshi no Ko." The producer ignored the contract with the original author regarding the "parts that are not permitted to be changed" and went ahead and did so. In retaliation for being forced to step down, the screenwriter wrote the whole From the screenwriter's perspective circumstance on social media, mixed with sarcastic comments towards the original author. As a result, the original manga artist committed suicide. The chapter of 2.5-dimensional stage of “ Oshi no Ko ” original comic was serialized several years ago, so it is not related to the incident. The original author of Oshi no Ko is himself a manga artist, so I think it's highly likely that he portrayed her that way to keep things balanced. And I think that her words, although they may be quite exaggerated, contain a great deal of the original author's own feeling. This is because, in reality, Japanese manga artists do not have a very strong position when it comes to live-action adaptations. Hollywood once caused a huge outrage when they made a terrible movie that heavily altered Dragon Ball.

not professional but still understandable. in her mind, she clearly said what she wanted to have done and every time she made a statement, something different turned out to happen. she doesn't know, that there are 5 people sitting between her and the scriptwriter. the only evidence she has is the script and that turned out bad.
@originaldarkwater
13 сағат бұрын
No it wasn't professional, and it wasn't meant to be. As Yuriko explains, Abiko is a loner and lacking in social skills. How she reacts to this situation is meant to be seen as inappropriate because of that lack. Also consider that, at 22, Abiko is barely an adult and not very experienced with the ways of the world. Not understanding how people work, Abiko probably doesn't understand how much of the situation was created by that game of telephone, so all her frustration that should be directed at the system ended up being unfairly targeted at GOA, instead. Yuriko could have explained it to her, but Yuriko obviously didn't realize just how frustrated and angry Abiko was until she let fly in the middle of the rehearsal.

Why are you skipping the opening theme song? You’re missing out! As the episodes progress, you’ll gradually understand the meaning of the theme song, make new discoveries, and enjoy the main story even more deeply. The unit group performing the theme song, GEMN, was created specifically for the second season of Oshi no Ko. GEMINI (Twins Aqua & Ruby) - I (Ai) = GEMN.

11:52 the argument here, i think Prez doesn't get what Cara is trying to say i think Cara meant that she is putting herself on the scriptwriter's shoes, not she is saying the scriptwriter doesn't bear any responsibility for the bad end-product.. the responsibility is on all of the people that mis-relays the messages from the author too, so i think it is not fair to blame the scriptwriter wholely.. and to be lashed out in front of soooo many people, well, that would be depressing indeed
