Great! You do quality videos man 👍🏻 Have you played live guitar using Ableton fx chains using a floor midi controller ? After scoping out alot of gear I’m now thinking software opens up superior power and possibilities for the fraction of the $ of top pedals. So many possibilities. I play guitar but love synth sounds more 😅 Would dig it if you would be so kind and share some Ableton ambient/shoegaze fx chains. E.g. I absolutely ❤️ the old Spectral Blur. Fuzz is the only fx that’s not up there in software afaik.

Great video, now how do I output that sound to a boss street cube? I have a laptop with a scarlett. What if i want vocal effects? Will it all just be output to the headphone jack and go into the amp as one channel? Is there a way to separate the channels so i can output the vocals with effects to the 3pin mic and the guitar with effects into the second guitar input? What is the ideal way for taking these effects with ableton live on the street?

Hey, even in the standard version of ableton you don't get as large of a selection of amps and cabinets, which forces you to get a little more creative with finding a nice sound. Personally I have more fun screwing around with the stock effects to find a nice sound than shelling out more money to upgrade to a newer version. I recommend just inserting an empty audio effect rack on your guitar's audio track and exploring!

When you were adding a pedal to the autofilter (at around 8:10 somewhere) the pedal effect was set to 0% gain. Doesn't that just make the pedal basically do nothing?
@begg3495

I don't believe so, I think the pedal just wouldn't add or subtract any gain, but it's the dry/wet effect that determines how much the pedal affects the sound ( I think )

Atleast you acknowledge that you didn't watch the video. "Bad" is incredibly subjective.
@ItalMeditation
4 жыл бұрын
@@gasolineandwine but still accurate. There are a few usefull tools like Tuner, some general (not specific) fx like reverbs, echo, delays, phaser, filters etc. thac can be used, but every single specific fx for guitar (exept for pedal, maybe) is kinda bad for crafting guitar tones. What you wanna do is chaining an external amplifier simulator plugin with some general effects. I'm afraid there's no way a guitarist is gonna be happy of playing with a stock-made tone.
@gasolineandwine
4 жыл бұрын
@@ItalMeditation I disagree. I heard a bunch of really usable tones in what he was playing. In fact, his clean, no pre-amp'ed guitar with the fuzz effect sounded quite close to what Thom Yorke was running in Bodysnatchers, the studio version. It's all about dialing to taste, and knowing what goes where. I hear this same argument from people who don't like free/stock synth plugins, and yet don't know how to achieve a tone they like on a "good" plugin.
@ItalMeditation
4 жыл бұрын
@@gasolineandwine I love the stock synths! I do anything with Operator, I could do also pasta with it (as a good Italian i Am) :P but that sound you mentioned sounds to me really poor, cracky and virtual. I want to be clear: I'm not saying those sounds could not fit in some specific mix or song, maybe layering some of them or mixing with other instruments but let's be honest: the most tones you would like to achieve do (from a warm roots reggae guitar to a heavy metal lead guitar) you just can't. Also, they are worthless for just playing guitar or for any kind of guitar&voice song. But well, i think from this point it's just opinions :P

Newbie here trying to put together a home recording setup. At the very beginning you say the guitar is plugged into recording interface. So I have a Focusrite iDock which enables me to record on an iPad. But I'm guessing that you're running Ableton on a laptop? Is the laptop also plugged into the recording interface? Can you recommend such an interface? Are you using a 1/8" jack to TRS adapter? USB to TRS? adapter? Midi plug?
@nilsjunior7851
4 жыл бұрын
The Audio Interface is the connection between your guitar or a microphone and the computer. It converts an analog signal (guitar, microphone, synth, etc.) into a digital, which you are going to record in your DAW (digital audio workstation -Ableton, Logic, Protools, etc.). (analog to digital conversion) The Interface is connected to the computer, mostly via usb. And the guitar goes into the the interface via a 1/4" TRS cable. You can also connect your speakers and headphones to the interface, to get the sound out of the computer. (digital to analog conversion) Most Audio Interfaces also power your Condenser Microphones, mostly with 48v Phantompower.

Extremely low-end, and not nearly as good as the more expensive interfaces, but my Behringer UMC-202-HD works very well for guitars and the AT2020. It's good enough for a basic home studio setup.
@onceuponasynth

Bro, this isn't a very good representation of Ableton's guitar stuff. You can't really use the pedal without the amp, nor the amp without the cabinet. Ever just DI with a distortion pedal? It sounds bad. The redux sounds garbage because it needs to be subtle. It doesn't help that you're just not a guitarist though. Sorry to be so blunt.
