@@nervouscooks I had a convo with Ableton a number of months ago, pitched a product that was essentially a push mini, but you attached your phone to it, and used the controller to control everything except for menus, and maybe adjusting sample start and end times. I like that idea because it would basically be the same experience as a groove box, but way more powerful than any of the standalone small groove boxes. Because those groove boxes are always full of compromises. They ended up releasing a compromise anyways tho haha

Hi. Great vid; thanks. Mine's been shipped, so patiently awaiting. A couple of things re: long samples. Pages 95/96 of PDF manual show that you can access the Envelope mode for samples, so wondering if you set it to Gate and make the step length the length of loop, would it then stop when PLAY is used to end sequence?? Also (completely random guess) - could you try Shift-PLAY when sequence is stopped? I know this does a play-restart when running, but since this function would be redundant when sequencer is not running - it would be interesting to test if Ableton re-used this combo as a 'PANIC' mode. (I give myself a 20% chance on this one being right)

Thanks for the effort put in creating this showcase video. At first I was really happy that Ableton released a device in this price range with these pads and a significantly powerful ARM CPU. However after watching the video, as a "power user" I have to be honest I really was not impressed by the device. I definitely wouldn't recommend that device to beginners either. Here are the biggest problems I've identified so far: 1. The layout on the device especially the encoders layout and the screen position and size are a complete deal breaker for me, which is really regrettable because it's not like the "Move" doesn't have a screen or 8 endless encoders. Having encoders in 2 rows of 4 instead of one row of 8 would have allowed a design where the screen could have been aligned on top of the 16 pads to the left, while allowing the knobs to exist on top of the 16 pads to the right. If the screen would have been marginally bigger in that alternate layout I'm suggesting, It would have enabled the capacity for the device to display the NAMES and VALUES of of ALL 8 assigned parameters for a given track on the screen at all times. The closer overall proximity of the knobs to the screen in the layout I'm suggesting would have ensured that the user's eyes don't have to constantly travel from one corner of the device to the complete opposite just to see what's the name of the parameter matching a particular encoder on a particular track. The whole idea of the lights below the encoders is actually laughable because the user never knows what parameter they're actually controlling until the point where they touch the encoder, unless they've memorized the associated function in a context where tracks can be associated to different kinds of instruments. I'm sorry but that's not a viable way to design a multi-timbral instrument that associates a large quantity of parameters to a much smaller set of encoders. 2. In order to adjust the volume of a given pad the user has to press the pad, which almost certainly implies that the pad gets triggered throughout the process (which automatically disrupts the flow of music in a live environment). I'm assuming that this is the case because in the video it has not been demonstrated that it was possible to put the device's focus on a particular pad of a given drumkit track without triggering the pad in the process. In addition to this since the user has to be pressing the pad to adjust the volume of the particular one shot of a drumkit, how can the user trigger the sound to test the volume of the pad in isolation if the user has to hold down the pad to gain access to the volume adjustment. If what was showed in the video is an accurate representation of the design, this design is simply not viable. 3. Only having 32 projects saving slots on a device with 64GB of storage space is flat out unacceptable. 4. Being unable to name the Projects directly on the device is also unacceptable. Bottom line, I think once people get past the honeymoon phase and they see the device as it is rather than as they wish it would be, the community's overall perception of the device will take a significant drop unless they make major changes to the screen behaviour and operating system overall.

It would be nice if Ableton told us if or how the nudge percentage relates directly either to ticks and resolution or even MPC groove, which does correlate with NI Maschine groove. That's the only off-putting thing for me so far. Otherwise I like it and it looks sexy, like an old Wacom Intuos!

Ableton Circuit Next :D. For me, what can make this machine boring in a short time is the lack of possibility to modify the synth presets. The proof is that they have not allowed to import presets from Operator, the best synthesizer that Ableton has. Novation Circuit Tracks has the ability to connect to an Android or Apple phone and modify the synth's parameters to your liking, so you don't have to rely solely on importing presets. The only thing I like is the possibility to have a small MIDI controller (and his step sequencer) for Ableton, but it's too expensive to use it only for that. I'll wait and see what Novation has in store as they upgrade their entire line to MK4.

@@lilbbneil hard to answer as there are so many factors considering we can all be quite picky when it comes to workflow. I think it is a great companion to Ableton but I still need to try the dedicated controller mode plus I own a Push 3 which is hard to be beat for full integration. This could be good for live performance but again I’d have to look into it further for that type of work.
