@@stanbekker Exactly what I did, worked like a charm. Make sure you don't clean the plastic sheet covering the pad contacts with alcohol though! I had some pads that were desensitized for years, and recently two pads died entirely and didn't respond no matter how hard I hit them. Cleaning the contacts made everything work good as new again. I was surprised that cleaning it actually worked so well.

Great video, Anyway you could get your hands on a Novation Circuit for a teardown video? I own one and it wont run on battery power only plugged in. Any idea what could have happened in there?

i have the same push but mine sort of doesnt work without the adapter now, over the period it stopped working, i was powering it solely through midi cable and now it doesnt work just through the midi cable, what could be the problem here ?

Given the quality here, would love to see you do something like the Elektron products, like the Analog Four or Octatrack.

I can only tear down what I own but If I ever get my hands on the Elektron then I will be in there, :-)

Great video, thank you! Any clue about the manufacturer of this unusual large LCD display? First time I see a display like this in a consumer product.

+benzen78 Yes the Display is really nice quality and a strange shape really for an oLED display. I guess that was the most expensive thing to develop. I am assuming that it is an oLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) though I do not know who actually manufactures it.

Hi Markus, thanks for another great video :) Quick question if I may (it's been bugging me a while) what's the Jean Michel Jarre Electronica Project box behind you? The vinyl edition of his new (somewhat disappointing) album?
@markusfuller
8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Ford Hello Andy. That box is the special limited edition version - it contains 2 vinyl records - 1 CD & 1 USB stick which contains studio mixes etc in a higher bit rate than the CD and some video's . plus theres the gaps for the second part which will be posted to me when it is finished early next year (hans zimmer - Gary numan - etc ) and a numbered (limited edition to 1000 ) signed certificate from JMJ. I think mine is number 485. Im a bit of a fan and have met him a couple of times so I have everything he has ever done (except a "genuine" copy of music for supermarkets - there was only 1 pressing of that ever made). but its thanks to JMJ and Vangelis that got me interested in music and synthesizers.

+markusfuller Cheers Markus, that's put my mind at rest...bit jealous now lol :) I only really like his music up to Zoolook (then Oxygen 7 - 13). The magic faded a bit after that for me. I remember back in 1980 while I was still at secondary school a friend wanted me to listen to Oxygene II and I was just blown away. I wasn't into music at all up to that point (with the exception of Mike Oldfield) so I owe him a lot. Thanks for the reply Markus!

The only Jarre CD I never play is Teo & Tea. I still own one but have only heard it once when I bought it in 2007. other than that Jarre is always my number 1 (closely followed by Vangelis)

hello I have push 2 and the screen was broken some functions are seen and others are not, or better said, they are deleted ... because of the humidity that is here in Chile ..... Some tips for me?

Great work! It doesn't sound as rootsman as the transcendent though. ableton shines when you are working your own sounds through it. thanks again.

Hey Mark, thank you for the his video! I had a leak in my room and my ableton push was hit. I saved the push but two things im stuck with. The screen is now blank and doesnt turn on. and I cannot seem to push the push back together. It always feel like something in the top left is stopping from letting me close the case completely. Its been 10 months since ive been able to use my push and its driving me crazy lol did u have any resistance when assembling the push back together?
@stanbekker

I had some resistance, but I ended up inverting the play button :')... Make sure you wiggle every button a little bit until the upper frame falls past it. the blank screen is a difficult one to fix I'm afraid, could be a lot of things.

Does anyone watching this have any experience with the USB port on the Push 2? My Push 2 will power on via the power supply but does nothing over USB. I did a continuity test from the four USB pins on the Push 2 mainboard. There seems to a physical connection between each of those four pins and their corresponding wires on the cable when plugged in, even so my computer doesn't see the Push. I thought perhaps a corrupt firmware update might mean there is no driver equivalent on the Push 2. All the same that should stop the Push powering up on USB power. Any clues welcomed. As Ableton no longer manufactures the Push 2, it seems unlikely they will offer tech support for anything other than their latest current model.

Hi! One of my knobs, 6th from the left, is bezirk, when I turn the knob, it outputs random values, and jumps up and down in values on what ever parameter is active, like browsing, automating etc. which makes the knob totally useless. I will probably return the unit. But just for curiosity, would be possible exchange one knob and it’s connected ciruits?

Hi, My Push 2 has small problem. A couple of pads seem to get jammed. Maybe because of dust or something. Do you think its a good idea to open this thing and clean it?
@markusfuller

Yes it may be something jamming the pads down. if you open it up be very careful and give yourself plenty of time.

Hello Markus!! Great channel!! Very much enjoy you fixing and exploring gear from the guts. Anyway, i own the Push 2 and the other day i spilled a beer on it :/. It now boots up well and the display is fine. I do have a couple of the pads not working tho. The warranty will not cover this so my only option right now is to open it up and do a proper cleaning. Do you have any advice as how to do this? Things i would require etc. These pads seem pretty high-tech and i don't want todo more harm to them.
