No way lmao. Yet another track I never thought I'd see reviewed getting a spotlight. I adore the entire ep, I feel like this artist somehow treads the line of lofi blackened bedroom pop/alt-emo campiness and genuine sincerity extremely well. I couldn't help but laugh through my first listen just because of how jarring the sound is but also how well each the various genre reference points were executed. It's like a genre amalgamation I'd conjoin as a joke, but also it would be sick if real. This is the most lofi version of the sound I've heard, but for those interested in similar-ish stuff roughly in the same ballpark, check out: Sonhos Tomam Conta - Lonely People in Neon Cities Downfall of the Neon Youth - Nails Sadness - Something in The Summer Rain Buried in Coal - Christmas Time is Here Isleptonthemoon - My Misery is Carved into the Flesh of This World

I think You Arms Are My Cacoon is in a sense, a spiritual continuation to I Wrote Hikus About Cannibalism In Your Yearbook

That was a sample from Game Grumps at the end from an episode of them playing Legend of Zelda Windwaker. I thought it was cool that he added that at the end

Just my own take, but this was I think my second song heard by Y.A.A.M.C. and the first time I’d heard their work I hated it. When I heard this song first I didn’t like the first part at all, but felt such a love for the simplistic harmonica performance and guitar work. And then after a few more listens I just fell in love with the anguish and pained screams. I completely get the hilarity of how the two tracks differ, as one ends and the next begins, they do seem so different, but after a lot more listens I find the guitar coming back in and the harmonica performance after the anguished screams just so much more raw and the lack of vocals afterwards just gives you a moment to sit and reflect on what you’ve just listened to. I agree completely with what you said in calling it a rollercoaster. I’m not always in the mood to listen to it, but when I am, Your Arms Are My Cocoon have this spot entirely covered. This is my first vid of yours, but I really look forward to seeing what else you cover! Really glad to see a favourite analysed musically! Thanks for putting into words what I’ve been feeling about this song!! ❤

not at all the same thing, but combination of screams with clean guitar strumming reminds me of a segment from a track "Remember Why You Are" by blackened screamo band We Came Out Like Tigers

Definitely not my cup of tea; basically depressive/suicidal black metal-style anguished vocals with quasi-math rock instrumentals into a folky outro with demo-like recording quality. I just need more "craft" (for lack of a better word) in my music.

I'm with ya there. I appreciate this from afar but I typically need more oomph in my personal listening. Though the lyrics feel more emo than dsbm me to.
