You have given me inspiration. Maybe even a deeper love for what I’m trying to do. I’m taking your direction into my life....wandering...experimenting with all that you have shown us. Letting go is a beautiful gift. I am somewhat a beginner thinking it all has to be perfect. You have given me license to go where my heart and eye leads me...and making me feel I can do this...try this...learn on my own terms. I have flipped open the flaps of my box..breathing some free air and crawling out with all my brushes..stencils..paints..pallet knife...whatever I can get my hands on...thank you thank you MABO!! Could you tell me what you use to draw your black marks! Thank you again for all your inspiration!

Just subscribed to you, now I know why. I’ve always loved abstract, and in my heart believed I could do it, but fear always stopped me, just as it did with my photography. Always thinking I’m no good enough. And in Texas where I live, it’s all about cowboys, horse and Texas stars. But I’m 70 now, always a non conformist to traditional junk, don’t even fit in with my church friends. Just started painting about 6 mo ago, with weird responses, I ask them to look up the word abstract, duh! But you have inspired me, I’m going in head first, and my work will be great because I have a weird out of the box mind, I like being different, and my true friend know me as a weirdo they love, and have grabbed my paintings as quick as I make them, but now comes the good stuff, thank you! From the bottom of my heart, you are the real deal❤️

Hi Tony, Thank you. The answer is "show no fear" most of the skills is a lifetime of trying, experimenting eventually leading to experience. An ugly painting can always be covered with a primer and re-painted. Even as an experienced artist, we sometimes abandon projects because the original idea we had on our mind isn't working out. Best example, my painting "Edward" kzitem.info/news/bejne/tK-vrZylg2d-qXo

Do you seal your paintings? I've been watching many tutorials & demos. No one every comments on sealing the work. I was taught in oils. My teacher made us seal the paintings with copal medium. But I think that yellows over time. I haven't seen anyone seal acrylics.
@MABOart
5 жыл бұрын
@Alison Rennie I seal all of my painting with a water-based varnish since I often use charcoal, pencils or other mixed media products like oil pastels etc. The varnish, if water based, will not yellow in time, gives an even shine, highlights the colours and protects the colours from smudging. Check out my other videos and you will see that I always apply a varnish to the finished painting.

Is this a happy painting or sad? And what is it?
@MABOart
4 жыл бұрын
@ Ekaterina It will be whatever you want it to be. The idea I had by creating this painting was "the light on the end of the tunnel" As an abstract and spontaneous style I had prepared the colours I wanted to use ahead of time but the process was layering and mixing the colours right on the canvas. Some people claiming it was muddy and I can understand their comments since I am filming without professional equipment or lights. But I can assure you, that the painting looked way better in real. However, to answer your question, the light on the end of a tunnel could have many meanings, depending on how you see or feel about this painting. It could be HOPE after a struggle in life, a financial boost after years in poverty or perhaps a "Near-death" experience or as simple as seeing the end of a long hard workweek with the free weekend just ahead. The person who bought the painting might have had a different reason. Maybe he just bought it for the choice of colours and because it matched his interior decor?
@E-Kat

@@MABOart oh, thank you so much for your answer and I must say I feel bad now for asking this questions as I've taken you away from what you love - painting. I'm so happy you sold it! The title is so fitting to everyone's life now as we all keep looking for a solution to something. Thanks again so much! Keep painting and selling your work. Van Gogh never sold any of his work, the one he thought he did was actually purchased by his brother! You're doing very well indeed! All the best!

Not to be mean, but too many people are simply slathering and slinging paint for no idea or plan for composition and calling it "abstract art". It's not. It's just slathering paint. There is no pattern to direct the eye. No color placement plan. Even Jackson Pollack had a method to his drizzles. People who don't know or understand are being mislead.
@MABOart

Thank you for your comment. Actually in my non-objective paintings I have direction and a plan. Most likely you did not watched the entire process.
