I was going to use mine but I don't think I will be now. Inheritance from my grandfather before he passed. Gave me all his fishing gear and all I have left are some lures and this reel....wish I'd have saved it all now I had some old old stuff from the 30s and 40s and being a dumb teen I just used the crap out of it broke it and gave it away to people And didnt respect it the way i should have

So I’m assuming this wouldn’t be good for bottom fishing ? It seems like it can handle the fight of a fluke but sometime I’m dropping 8 oz of lead to hold bottom ,I’d appreciate your input I’m by no means a pro and I need some help (looking at the new model)

Think that reel can handle a 20 pound steelhead or 26 pound king?
@MissouriAgitater

I'm sure it would, I landed a 60lb blue catfish on 30lb line with out any problems.

@@MissouriAgitater sounds about right okay the drag. Landed a 8 pound northern Pike on a south end micro light with 4 pound test on it. Small black and gold panther Martin. 20 dollar rod and reel. Loved that setup until I broke it by sitting on it

I agree, if you can't catch a Catchfish on a 5500C..you need to learn how to fish!!!

@@MissouriAgitater well you have convinced me to get the CL 70. I am also looking at getting spectra braided line. some people say to buy white because braided line bleeds its colour all the time. what do you think.

@@kusnezoff8705 Spectra makes great line.. I've seen people say that about the colors.. but honestly I think its preference. One more thing, On the CL60 or CL70 if you run braid you will want to use a backing. I use black electrical tape for my backing. But some guys like to use a few wrapped of Mono. It helps keep the braid from slipping on the spool..

@@MissouriAgitater thanks Ivan, my younger brothers name is Ivan. I just watched a guy mention using a backing or a few wraps of mono, can you put a few wraps of flurocarbon as well instead of the mono. I can go up to a CL90. kind of wondering what I want to get. the 90 will be much heavier and the only reason to get it is so I don't get spooled. I will be moving back to the Philippines and there are tuna around so I wanted to get a reel that would be heavy enough to be able to land a tuna and some other larger fish. not sure if I will ever catch one but there is that what if and if it does happen I would like to have a reel that I can tire the fish out and not get spooled before that happens. so what do you think. 70 or 90. thanks for your replies, really appreciate them and watching your video's. looking forward to the next update on the 60

@@kusnezoff8705 Fluorocarbon would work just fine as a backing. Picking between the 70 and 90 is a hard decision in your situation. I myself would probably go with the 70 being its lighter and easier to maneuver. It's more of a multi species reel and I think it would be fine with smaller tuna. But if you're going to specifically target larger tuna I'd want the 90 or even bigger for sure. Have safe travels to the Phillipines and enjoy your time there. I've always wanted to visit and fish there. I watch a lot of documentaries about the Pasig River and how they are trying to clean it up and bring it back to life. Thank you for the kind words and for watching my videos 📹 it keeps me motivated to make more.
