Philippines is on our list. And yes, definitely check Acadia out. A good deal of the park is open only a portion of the year, so plan it out!

Stone stairs way is a bit scare to me and remind me about Yosemite, a 50+ years old flat of a cliff right in front of us! We felt so bad for her!

Yes, there’s a few places you need to be careful. There’s a hike called the Precipice that is really scary looking. We couldn’t do it because the trail was closed due to peregrine falcon nesting.

We are visiting at the end of the month. When is peregrine falcon nesting season usually ? I want to try the Precipice trail. Thanks for info

I think it’s March to August. It’s basically most of the warmer months and the reason we never got to do that trail.

It’s closed now (June) for nesting and hatching of the falcons. Check the park website before you go.

Mount Desert Campground. It's at the north part of Somes Sound. Very nice campground, great place to launch your kayak and a 10-15 minute drive to Bar Harbor/visitor center to catch the shuttles.

This National Park is a must for us!!! Wow, these adventures are all amazing. How many days did you spend here? Wondering how long we would need to explore all these areas. Just awesome!!! Dorr Mountain looks challenging.😬

A week max, maybe six days I think? The cool part about this park is that if you use the shuttle you can kind of make your own adventure without having to double back to your vehicle. The trails range from easy to difficult. You do what you can and when you’re done, holler at a shuttle. Everyone’s pace is different and Magellan is insanity incarnate, but spend at least three days. We like to do every park as if we will never be back and make the effort to get there worthwhile. Big thing to know is the water even in the heat of summer will be 55° lol.
