Setting the rear suspension sag of a snowmobile, or any powersports vehicle for that matter is instrumental for proper handling. Being able to hit the correct sag (roughly 1/3 suspension travel) with rider(s) on board, with minimal preload, ensures you have the correct springs in the vehicle. The correct spring has about a 30-40 pound rider window in our experience, so if you are lighter or heavier than the engineered target of that spring, you need to change the rate! This video discusses how to measure the rear sag of a snowmobile using a good old fashioned tape measure.
