Beauty, thank you for this video. I have to change tubes in 5 different lights at work tomorrow (I'm a night porter at a retirement home filling in for our maintenance man who is on vacation and we have an inspection tomorrow) and it's my first time messing with these stupid fluorescent diffusers.

Thank you. I wish I'd watched this video first instead another video demonstrating how they removed/installed a lens for cleaning. In that video, there was more room in the light cavity to bend the lens without breaking it than there is on my fixture. That's how they removed it- by bending it upwards. I ended up taking their advice and putting a 2 inch crack in the end of the lens. This caused a lot of aggravation. Now that you've shown me that there are clips that slide down, that will make the process MUCH easier next time. My clips look different than yours but I was encouraged by this video to find a way to make them slide down.

Thanks for commenting. Lever designs differ a bit, some latch with more or less fiddling and alignment, sure beats the cost of lens replacement. How is your project coming along?
@gbferrell
6 жыл бұрын
Yes - my latches are less of a lever and more of a slide- you slide it sideways to release. I had originally tried pulling it down, but gave up- until I saw your video and that encouraged me to go back and try it again. Then I figured out that it slides to release. LOL- I don't know if you'd call it a 'project'- all I needed to do was remove some bugs that had crawled in there and died. I was able to finish the job using the advice in the other video, but as I said, I put a small crack in the lens when I bent it like they suggested in their video. Next time the bugs crawl in there, I will use the latches. Thanks to you, I figured out the better way to do that.

No air filter anywhere in entire video, my man. The metal air vent grille in the drop ceiling does get fuzzy with dirt, a wet rag works on those.

Insects: any cap will do. They are attracted to color of light, changing the hue might help reduce them. Also bug meshes on openings, obviously.
