Cool 3 state car chase scene in this movie. That 41' Packard Convertible is awesome and worth a FORTUNE today!

I had a 1955 Packard. Not worth much by then but it was a heavy machine. Got only 7 MPG with its 350 cubic inch (or so) engine. It had a 2+2 carburator (sic).. Normally ran on 2 valves, but when you fully floored it the other two valves opened up. And despite the tonnage it weighed, it would explode forward! One time someone shot at the driver side rear door. The bullet entered from outside but never penetrated the inside of the door; the door steel was that dense.

Thanx for the car ID. I thought I saw Duesenburg in script on the left side of the hood, but it was barely in focus. The boxy grill suggested an expensive car and Packard did come to mind .....before I saw the script.

I'm still not sure what the script on the hood was, but the movie must hold the world's record for screen time. Problem with the argument for "free ads" is that the movie is 1946. (Aug 20, 2020.)

My dream car is still the 1934 Packard Town Car. I'd want to have the body restored to mint condition (black with chrome trim), the interior furnished in crushed velour, and a big Chrysler 440 Police Interceptor under the hood with two Holley 4-barrels, and all that through an automatic transmission. We're talking plush comfort with raw guts to back it up. **I plan to buy one just as soon as my rich uncle gets out of the poor house.

Back in the 1940's they had UTNS, the Universal Telephone Number System. You could call anyone on the telephone, even someone you'd barely even heard of, just by dialing the omni-number. That way, you never had to look anybody up in a phone book.

This is a great one because it was also funny and had some stereo types that are gone mostly in these modern times. That looked like Scotty's Castle in the desert. I wonder if this was a fund raiser for Scotty's Castle ? Good location "out in the middle of nowhere" the film crew stayed in trailers maybe? Now it's a park if this is the one. I like the scene with the shooter using the castle battlements as a shield. Great car shots throughout! Thank You for posting this gem.
