Thank you, thank you, and you're welcome! This is fairly new code and my understanding is it should be completely accessible. It's not supported by Internet Explorer, but all other browsers are good.

Hello Sean, thank you so much for providing these tutorials and HTML coding. I'm just learning how to code in Canvas and your tutorials are practical and easy to follow. 👌👌🙌🙌

I'm glad they're helpful! My approach is that a good teacher or course/instructional designer should know just a little HTML/CSS, but it shouldn't be overwhelming. We're not coding websites or building apps. But a little knowledge and curiosity can go a long way to help our students.

Is there a way to create nested accordion menus within canvas? I want the student to be able to click the main to reveal x number of subsequent menu options at the same time. However, each of those new menu options needs to be clickable and reveal even more content. I want something along the lines of below: Multi Level Accordion Major Item 1 item 1.1 item 1.2 item 1.3 Major Item 2 item 2.1 item 2.2 item 2.3. Major Item 3 item 3.1 I want all the Major items to appear at the same time once the main is clicked ("multi level accordion" above). Then I want the individual content for each major item to be separately revealed by clicking on the Major Item links. This is what I have so far... any help is greatly appreciated. Multi level accordion Major Item 1 Item 1.1 Item 1.2 Item 1.3

Hello Sean, is there a way to have the first tab of the accordion open by default?

I had to look it up and by default the state is set to "closed".

Hey Sean, I just found your page, and you ROCK! Thanks for the tutorial. Is there any way to integrate this mid-sentence so you can create a Vocabulary definition dropdown? I tried experimenting with the code, but I can't get it to work in line. If not, I will just add the vocab at the top or the bottom of the page, as it is AWESOME! Thanks Can't wait to see next weeks'.

Thank you! I would use accordions in a glossary format. If you want a quick popup, try using a tooltip. Put this before the vocab word and then put this after the vocab word You may also be interested in the abbreviations part of my typography video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1qmuqaCto5WLZKA Around the 13 minute mark.

@@HowToCanvas Sweet. Thanks. I have been working my way through all your tutorials. They are great. THANKS. Of course, now I have to go back and fix all my courses where I used tables to section my content... oh wait, that is all of them. lol Thanks again.

That didn't work, but I really like the accordion style, so I will go that route But on another note, do you have a trick to change the color on a tab or button after it has been clicked?

@@moniquegaudinvegaspbs377 Unfortunately for that you'll likely need to access your institution's theme editor for that and modify the Javascript or the external CSS. From the front end, most users only have access to the HTML editor with inline CSS. 🙁

Hello! Is there a way to make a simple flow chart that consists of accordioned tabs... with paths branching and reconnecting? I want students to choose the order in which they work on some sections of my class, rather than having just one strictly linear path. I had a 2-column table but it's apparently not accessible enough. Thanks for any suggestions!

That would be an interesting concept to explore. For me, I've mostly seen this interaction as something more of a glossary since by default it's a toggle effect. This may be a bit much, but you can check out this video on branching scenarios. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sqytsKSAk4p2pIo
