The fire outbreak at Cow Lane in Accra’s central business district continues to burn, despite the relentless efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service.
Nearly 72 hours after the blaze first erupted, fire personnel have managed to bring it under control, but the destruction left in its wake is staggering.
The inferno, which started on the morning of Sunday, August 1, was first detected in one of the densely packed buildings near Rawlings Park.
As the fire spread rapidly through the congested area, fire crews worked tirelessly to contain it.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service deployed heavily to secure the area, ensuring the safety and protection of properties salvaged from the flames.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and with the blaze still ongoing, it’s uncertain when the Ghana National Fire Service will be able to fully extinguish the flames and declare the area safe.
But one thing is certain: firefighting efforts are expected to continue through Wednesday, August 4, 2024.
