Looking back on it now, it was unhinged. As a child (and well into adulthood), I did not trust authorities to be protective of me. I have always felt it was my job to fly under the radar. I was non-comunicative and figured things out myself.

I was accused of putting oranges on the engine block of a 73 Chevy Caprice. I was maybe 8 years old. I got the belt. A week later it was still happening. It was a rat. Did I get an apology? No. It was still my fault the rat was living on the engine block of the car.

Ah yes accusatory parenting. I sat perfectly still once my father got home from work. If he heard the slightest noise he would have a screaming meltdown about me "falling on my knees" trying to break my knees to stick him with a doctor bill. I smiled at my mom once and got a whipping for "baring my teeth" at her. No one can judge generation x. We were raised by the "me generation "

I remember telling my mom that the garage door was broken. It was closing by itself, and that’s why the roof of the car was scratched. She told me I had obviously closed it with the remote, and either was lying to cover up having done damage to the car, or I had forgotten that I had pressed it. Until a week later, when it happened to her. Then when I brought up the conversation of her accusing me, she forgot that conversation never happened.

We Gen X’ers are always on defensive side because of our parents methods.😂 It’s the guilty until proven innocent for Gen X.😂

Boomers, right!? If these kids only knew how Gramma and PawPaw were back in the day. And the schools... In middle school I ripped a fart in biology class and was referred to the Dean and got my ass whipped five times with the holey paddle. Florida in the seventies was a different world.

My Mum had a nervous breakdown every other month so I’m really good at moving around the house quietly. Now my husband has a problem with my being so quiet and “sneaking” around..🙄ffsakes how do you win??🤣🤣🤣

It's the same thing with our parents asking, "Who told you that?" There was a LOT of things our baby boomer parents hadn't heard before, so every idea we had was instantly nullified because it didn't come from a doctor, a mechanic, or their boss. It was basically retaliation because their silent-gen parents treated them like crap.

The one thing that I learned with children, is if you tell them "no" or "don't do something," it's best to immediately find them a "yes" activity, otherwise they will continue to do things you don't approve of.

My mom had a light that literally EXPLODED because it was wired wrong for years. It would do the weird browning out and then come back to life. I hated going into that room but it was storage. It was my fault, because when I turned it on, it exploded. Not that she was concerned I could have died. We also had a bad Nor'easter one year- bad bad blizzard. The covered deck in the back of the house collapsed from the sheer weight of all the weight heavy snow- the fell from the pitched roof-my dad had built wrong. After scraping the cat down off the ceiling, my parents accused me of slamming the back door to much when I went out and that is what caused it. Again, death was imminent but ya know.

My daughter was trying to make a smoothie with a hand blender and is just having a crappy day. Well, it got all over the kitchen. I walked in, and she was crying. 😢 i made jokes about that, and she finally laughed. I said honey i make a mess every day making smoothies. It isn't just you. You do hear my flavorful language. Dont it let get to you..besides we're having rueban sandwiches later. That's something to smile about.😊 my mom would've got made at me as I'd try to cover up the food kitchen bath. I dont know how she just appeared out of nowhere. She was sneaky like that. Freaky sneaky. 😂 ears like a hawk too. 😂
