Nice to see a manufacturer using the 6800U correctly. It would have ruled the thin-and-light category, but that ship has sailed

Negatives aside and there are some to be sure, it is not a bad laptop for the price. Sure there are negatives but no laptop is perfect. I thought the built-in webcam is clear and so is the built-in mics. It has a gorgeous 410 nits OLED display, DDR5 RAM as well as replaceable Wi-Fi card and PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. So all in all, a very nice PC from Acer! Excellent job Andrew!! 👍😁

Nice laptop. Camera and mics are okay. These manufacturers who are trying to make their units lighter and lighter need to be careful not to sacrifice on quality, Great review.

Very good review Andrew. I had to watch again the LG Gram review for comparison. I would still go for the Gram. It has 40% more battery according to your review, probably slightly better keyboard, better sound again according to your reviews (and already the bar for sound for the Gram is very low), no PWM and of course Thunderbolt for eGPU. Also in your Gram review there was a certain slide that showed a higher Cinebench r23 score of above 9000, so even performancewise (maybe it was in performance mode?) the Gram probably is ifaster than the Swift. But the competition is good and maybe it will nudge LG to move to Ryzen in the future

Thanks for the review. I suggest you add 2 items to your bullet point list of pros and cons: Build quality (absolute-must and this laptop is lacking in that for the price) & screen glare/reflection.

I bought one from Costco with a manufacturer $600 rebate. Hey I couldn't turn this machine for $899. My only complaint is when you say fingerprint magnet, you weren't kidding. It is horrible. It is so light you would think it's fragile, but it's not. I have had no thermal issues at all, even when setting it up and loading tons of software. OLED screen is great. I installed the FxSound app and it helped the sound quality. Thanks for the review!

My wife got me this laptop for christmas this year and i love it! It is way better than the dinosaur i was using before i had a dell studio that i got in 2010 for gaduation. I use it for modest gaming and home office stuff it does everything i need and i would highly recommend.

Andrew, nice review as always. I think I saw this on sale @ Costco for $999 for Black Friday...not sure if it's still on sale. Personally I'm not a fan of the reflective OLED screens and wish they had a matte IPS option. Also wish they had gone with a bigger battery (80W/hr) like the LG Gram 16..now that could have yielded a REALLY great battery life...and I'd trade more battery life for a few more ounces any day of the week...but alas I guess they were going for the marketing title of "Lightest 16 Laptop". 🙄(roll eyes). Also I feel like they could have included in a micro SD card.

Any chance to get a review of the updated Swift Edge with the 7735U w/Radeon 680M iGPU? On sale at Costco for around $1300 and would be interested to see how it compares to the 1360P based laptops under load :) Enjoy all your reviews btw, great work!

So Acer just announced a newer version of this laptop with a more powerful AMD CPU with upgraded iGPU and this time they included a microSD slot. They also went with a slighly lower resolution OLED screen on the new one but I believe with a higher refresh rate (up to120Hz?) if my memory serves me correctly. Also it is my understanding that they improved the key travel on the laptop. All goodness I jus wish they would have gone with an 80kwh battery like on the LG Gram. Also they lowered the price...N.A target price is $1299. Target release is July'23. Maybe they'll offer some back to school pricing/discounts.

I don't know... I've had 3 Acer laptops so far, 2 of them were very expensive (over 2,500 EUR) and one broke down on me and two started lagging and get CPU stuttering after just 1.5-2 years of use, even after full reset and windows reinstall... Got my first two Asus 16'' OLED laptops about 3 years ago and I still have them, fully functioning, no lag, no CPU stuttering, no high disk usage, nothing... They are just as fast and responsive as they were on the first day. I'm looking for a third laptop for photo editing now and I'm really not sure about Acer... To me, Acer doesn't really scream ''quality'' whatsoever...

Then, what about USB4 that you can find in acer official website?
@edwardnoble9897
Жыл бұрын
They contradict themselves on the website in the detailed specs. I can confirm the ports are seen by Windows as USB4 in the device manager, so hoping that the situation is like Razor and the ports can be (or were) upgraded to full Thunderbolt spec with a firmware update later on, but we'll see. I don't have anything to test this with at the moment unfortunately.

@@edwardnoble9897 B5 is heavier and more expensive because the internals are dedicated gpu (means extra fan, heavier), flip and touchscreen display (add weight), numpad, bigger battery and there's also a bonus RAM to boost to 40GB.
