Welcome to a new episode of our podcast!
Today I take you into the heart of one of the lesser-known moments in our Trojan War history: the funeral of Achilles.
Thetis, the grieving divine mother and the beautiful Briseis, cannot hold back their tears as they bend over the young man's body. But they are not alone in their pain: there is also Achilles' cousin, Telamonian Ajax, another hero among heroes, who shares the burden of the loss.
And finally Agamemnon, the great king who, despite their past disputes, joins in the collective mourning, paying homage to the valor and sacrifice of Achilles (even if perhaps his speech has a certain objective...).
He imagines a massive pyre: the flames burn brightly as they rise to the sky while the entire Greek army mourns the loss of the great hero.
The emotions that surround this moment are complex: from sadness to anger, from gratitude to honor.
Get ready for an exciting journey!
Are you ready?
