Quite enjoyable album. I have an 80's Epic Records reissue.

On the original covers, there is a slash between "STEREO" and "BN". That slash is missing from counterfeit copies.

Dang Derek... you certainly donned your deerstalker on this one regarding original/re-issue differences. It certainly can be a minefield if your not sure what you're actually looking at/for. Cool review. Cool album.

I bought my copy from Red Trumpet before they got into trouble. I was friendly with the owner and would go to their warehouse in York, PA during my annual pilgrimage to Hershey. He'd gotten a large, high quality psych collection. Can't say I'm 100% that it's legit. It's got the black bars, but is not promo stamped and the cover wear is weird, the gloss is still on the boarder, but the ink is not, like it's a printing error rather that from wear. Still, given the other items I got from that collection, I'm still leading toward legit.

Saw one at a record show but the price tag was $500 😬. If I ever happen to see one, I'll remember to look and make double sure it isnt a bootleg. I didn't know about the Blue Cheer connections, super cool stuff! I love the Sanfransisco Sound! Maybe need to pick up on a reissue soon! ✌☮

This is what i was talking about regarding discerning if it is a repress. I love this LP but intentionally bought a cheaper repress years ago. Derek points out what to look for if you want to buy an original as I was burned on Orient Express and Golden Dawn, probably dropped 80-100 bucks on each of those and they are represses! Keep helping us not to get burned on a fake man! My intentional purpose of KAK has a blue label, did not even know about the fake yellow labels. Thank you Mr. Acid.

Davis is just east of Sacramento heading southeast towards San Francisco on the I-80. My stepdad's cousin was the late Paul Whaley drummer of Blue Cheer.

Might surprise you but I've never gotten that into Kak. I used to have the first official reissue, which is that copy on Epic with the blue labels from the late 70s / early 80s. Which is funny, cause you rarely see a major label reissue of this ilk at that time. I sold that though. Perhaps I'd get into it with the original but for now it's just one I like ok. But congrats on finding it for the right price.

It's all good Dom, I actually appreciate the honesty! I wasn't drawn into it for a year or so after discovering it. But I get the rep it has now. A couple of tracks really hit the spot. I thought I was set with the Guerssen, but couldn't pass it up barely out of pocket.

R.I.P. Gary Yoder (1946-2021). IMO, the Oxford Circle was a better band than Kak...the latter group never came up with a song that was as crushingly intense as "Foolish Woman". Kak showed some promise on their lone LP, but I maintain their latter-day reputation far outshines what they actually accomplished on record. Too bad we will never know if they would've ended up making an album that fully lived up to, and deserved, all the hype accorded the debut.

Hey man. Sorry for not commenting on each of your Acid Archives videos, I had watched them all though. I love this album so much, I had to throw my two cents in on this one. Congrats on scoring that original, I have a reissue and would love to get an OG of that! Kak is pretty unique to my ears, great blend of styles. Definitely an lp to burn one to, for sure. I have many times. Kudos! Peace ✌ ☮ 🕊

NEVER saw or found that one in the early 70's budget bins (rare - even back in the day) but recently found a mint "re-issue" copy (??) on the blue Epic label which suits me just fine - especially moneywise! No insert though but I only paid $10.00 for the classic music! (My copy does have the faint promo stamp near the bottom) ... Fantastic sounding!

Note sure, but I think the blue Epic label reissue was a Scorpio pressing. I've heard some things about that distributor/label/whatever it is, but unsubstantiated rumors are slanderous. I did have a shop owner say that Scorpio jobbers would actually do cold call drop ins. But they reissued a lot of obscure stuff, with nice covers and industry standard vinyl.

@@seed_drill7135 Back in the early 90's I visited the Scorpio warehouse in Croyden and the owner let me root through a caged area where they kept their LP odds and ends - I founds many great LPs they had only a few copies of at a huge discount price! They used to send me catalogues.
