I’m at almost 5 days post-op on ACL reconstruction. I started PT at 3 days post-op and that was some of the most painful stuff I’ve ever experienced. A lot of my physical strength comes from my legs and to be in this weaker position has been emotional for me. Im going to kick this recovery’s *ss! I was able to transition to only using 1 crutch after about 2 weeks and completely off crutches after about the 3-4 week mark. Just had my medial meniscus repair and acl reconstruction yesterday morning. Was worried how the pain would be once the nerve block wore off, but surprisingly has been bearable. Haven’t touched the prescription medications, only rotating ibuprofen and extra strength Tylenol every 3 hours. Have to follow up with the surgeon next week to have the stitches removed, then hopefully start pt from there. Right now I’m on a strict resting schedule lol which is kind of boring but also a nice break. I did pre-op physical therapy which I think helped tons building up the muscle around the knee. Right now I feel my quad strength is ahead of where it should be, so hoping for a smooth recovery once I get to start pt

It's been a month got partial ACL tear , doctor suggested for Surgery , will be having it in the next 10 days. My muscles completely got stiffed , and there was no range and motion and muscle atrophy was quite visible . Doctor advised me to start physiotherapy. 4 days in physio got the 95-100° mark, but my question is Doing physiotherapy before surgery is any helpful? Or I have to start from 0 after surgery.

You'll have to start from 0 after surgery, but everyone recommends gettign back to normal first, I dont know if its because they dont want to operate while everything is swelled up, or make sure nothig else is wrong with you.

Hey man, I tore my acl, partially tore my meniscus, level 2 mcl tear, and an femur fracture 11mm. I haven’t gotten the acl surgery scheduled yet but I am really worried. When can I start walking again after surgery? And how's the pain post injury compared to post surgery? And thanks in advance man
@Famvestor
Жыл бұрын
It’ll probably be 4 weeks before your walking without crutches. More realistically 5 with the meniscus. No ideal about MCL and femur though. That might make things longer.

I am glad I got surgery, you are young enough that you are not going to want to live the rest of your life with the stability an ACL gives your knee. I tried living with it from 25-28, and would tweak my knee every other month... I'm glad I got the surgery.

@Famvestor

10-days this time, when I tore my other knee, I waited much longer. I think its smart to get your knee working right again, and smoothly before gettign the surgery. I think it would have made recovery much better.
