"Hope is not a strategy for acoustics." Agreed. Neither is praying to the single crystal, oxygen-free, $1k/yd wire gods.

All components within your system must be evaluated with a cost/benefit ration just like room treatment. You must consider the cost versus the sonic benefit. This is why I continually tell people to treat the low frequency issues within their room first, so it makes treating the middle frequencies much easier and less costly.

I always follow your clips … latest and very old also. Very informative are they. I am having small home studio (1750 cuft)with well absorption treated. The studio is mainly used for vocal recording. I feel the original vocal track gets very dry in recording. I doo enhance it with some eq and reverb-delay. Whether QRD will help to add some liveliness to original vocal track. And secondly where to put it. Pl help

When you are condidering diffusion, you must use the dimensions of the room, not the room volume. Fill out the information in this link. www.acousticfields.com/free-room-analysis/

@@AcousticFields Good evening Mr. Foley. I am purchasing the all in one diy package tomorrow. I’ve looked through your website and I can’t find your activated carbon listed for sale, am I just missing it or is not listed under the shop icon…?

This channel is bedrock for audiophiles. It's sound 101 and way beyond for everyone. The free knowledge here is presented in a clear manner and backed by empirical facts. This gentleman gives us this gift over and over without any sales ads and rarely pitches us on his own companies' products. THANK YOU SIR !

I'm the 1st one to comment (Sweet!!!!) Anyway back to the topic. What you say about diffusion makes a lot of sense

Diffusion is a wonderful technology if used correctly. You must have your room issues resolved before introducing diffusion. Diffusion is a technology to make a small room sound larger.

Does that mean in a large room with high ceilings I don’t need diffusers but more absorbers instead?
@AcousticFields
Жыл бұрын
You never "need" diffusion on any surface area. You can apply it to compliment room usages. Larger ceiling to floor distances that are below 12' can benefit and have audible sonic advantages. After you get 13' and higher, it then becomes used only for certian usages. Its case by case.

I want to thank you again Dennis for your videos, academy and forums. You've saved me so much time, money and frustration with your clear explanations. My YT feed is constantly flooded with videos about products that can't/don't work. The last couple weeks it's been foam covered with wood that has slots cut in it.

Everyone uses their imagination when it comes to treatment types. Unfortunely, imagination only goes so far when it comes to actual performance. Physics is the law. Everything else is just a suggestion.

Thank you for a great video Dennis. Can I ask why you say quadratic residue diffusers are the only true diffuser? Does a 2D primitive root diffuser give you the performance you need?
@AcousticFields
Жыл бұрын
Quadratic diffusers have a predicatble frequency response when used at the correct distances from diffuser to ears. They are also much easier to manufacture with lower costs than a primitive root.
