I have 8 gauge electric guitar strings on my acoustic. It’s definitely not as loud but it’s an ideal practice guitar that’s really helped me play for hours without blowing out my hands

This is so wrong. First of all, do you know that magnetic pickups for acoustic guitars exist? Or that the unwound strings as well as the cores of the wound strings are made from exactly the same material between acoustic and electric? Or the fact that there’s no silver in nickel-silver? Or that silver isn’t a magnetic metal anyway?

You’re definitely right. My research for this video was my experience putting acoustic strings on an electric and the guitar becoming completely unplayable. And in my experience, when plugged into an amp, only a reallllly faint buzz came out. (So faint that I assumed it was normal feedback and not even related to the strings) I assumed it was because of the bronze not being magnetic, but after looking into magnetic pickups for electric guitars, apparently 80/20 bronze/phosphor strings are still magnetic enough to send a signal. But - the bronze does muddy that signal compared to what you get with nickel strings. So now I’m thinking the lack of signal had way more to do with the warped neck than with the magnets. I think the bronze strings still played a factor, but it probably had way more to do with the weak vibration. As for the silver: I was speaking from memory, but was objectively wrong. Silver is not magnetic. I’ll cut that part out! Thanks for the comment. I’m definitely still learning and honest feedback helps

Some electric guitar pickups you can speak through and hear it come out of your amp. Your voice doesn't need any special type of metal.😂 I think that stops that talking point. Some electric guitar pickups will not pick up your voice though. Interesting stuff at least.

I used bronze acoustic strings on Les Paul with EMG James hetfield pickups and it worked out just fine. Definitely something happens and not nothing. The best way to compare is with the same gauge strings rather acoustic or electric.

I used to put electric guitar strings on acoustic and it was decent enough. ok I did that only when the high E string used to break and I would put it on the acoustic

Now thats weird, cus I accidently cut my g String on my acoustic guitar too short, so I had the idea to put it on my eletric guitar as a D String instead of throwing it out, and it worked perfecty. As if it had a golden tooth

U just tune down to D or C to relieve the tension….I’m disabled & im in a bad predicament right & putting this set of acoustic strings im about to put on is my only option because I’m poor, & can’t drive, & I only hav this set acoustic strings around the house….I watched another vid where it all worked out quite nicely….I guess if u have the action on ur electric so low that only spider web thin electric strings will work, then ur vid is possibly true…also, Stevie ray vaughan used 13’s…….idk, anyway, wish me luck🥰🥰🥰

It would work alot better if you set the guitar up for the strings. I.E. adjusting the truss rod to equal the tension, reset intonation, and most importantly increase the action to provide the space nesscary for vibration. Maybe also getting a custom made nut to provide needed height? would never recommend doing this because i cant expect it to be worth the while, just wanted to put it out there that It would probably be possible, same way you wouldnt be able to use 14 gauge drop D tuned strings on a guitar set up for ultralight 7 or 8 gauge strings.

What are you talking about? Electric and accoustic strings are made of metal so IT WILL generate electric current in coil by wibrating in electric field. If you thinking that only ferromagnetic can generate current then I bet you didn't hear about something like eddie current? And it WILL NOT destroy guitar because there are many different gauge of strings for different tunings and you have TRUSS ROD for adjust strings acction.

You don't have to use 12s or 13s...you can get acoustic 9s too...earthwood 12 string set extra lights are 9s. And the pickups will work...the cores and high 3 strings are steel.

If theres more tension on the neck than the relief is greater, so there would be more room for the strings to vibrate. Right?! The neck bends forward. If the strings have LESS tension, the neck bows backwards, and the strings have no room. PRETTY SURE.

I think by now tonewood has ben throuougly debunked for electrics. The only thing I can think of that affects tone is the fretboard wood, but that could also just be BS too. That said, it never hurts to have a good solid wood for your guitar body so it wont get damaged as much
