I don't care what note it is. It's HIGH, it's IN TUNE, it's LENGTHY, and it's forced me to watch this video like sixty times in the last two days. This video is probably the best example of how underratedly talented barbershop singers are.

Incredibly impressive, especially considering this was a live performance. Melodyne, autotune, absolutely not necessary. These guys are true champions of harmony.

Unfurl the banner and raise it to the sky! Let Eagle cry from mountain high the never ending watch word of our nation Now behold this gem of old, the wonder of the Western sky The emblem of the brave and true, the flag of our liberty, flag of our destiny Red and white and starry blue stream out of the banner so high Every heart will sing a part as all across the land we raise our voices Far and near, for all to hear, the echo of a chorus grand! Every heart will swell with pride to sing of our liberty, sing of our destiny As with joy we now extol the flag waving over the land Let us all hail the flag in one accord, let us cheer it with fervid elation It's the flag of the martyrs gone before, it's the flag of flags, the banner of our nation It's a beacon for all who share our dream of a new day without domination It's the hope of the peoples now oppressed and a symbol of their own emancipation Hooray for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever The gem of the land and the sea, ever hoist it proud and high All nations remember the day when our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray that by their might and by their right, it waves forever Every time the people hear the bell of freedom calling, (calling) one and all Every living patriotic citizen will answer, (answer) freedom's call Everywhere the bold and gallant souls come forth to bear the cross of duty Rising up as one to fight and die behind the flag of freedom's beauty Patriotic hearts will falter never, following the stars and stripes forever Marching to the quest, to east or west, they quell distress, the freed oppressed cry out Hooray for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever The gem of the land and the sea, ever hoist it proud and high All nations remember the day when our fathers with might endeavor proclaimed as they marched to the fray "Defended by our might, ever standing for the right, it waves forever!" Hail to the banner that waves the stars and stripes We give our lives for Stars and Stripes!

My quartet (For Heaven's Sake Harmony Inc 1996 Queens) sings this too - it's a David Wright arr. and it's tough as hell! He actually has "good luck" written in the sheet music at the middle section! I must have listened to Acoustix sing this song 2000 times on their cd! When we got the music it was right before 9/11 and that really motivated us to do it! We were almost thinking it was too hard. Glad we did it! Oh - and our lead posts a full voice high E at the end - she kicks bootie!

As a previous competition baton twirler, all baton events (except solo twirl) was performed to a cassette (in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, there was a record player at competitions) on continuous repeat! In college, I twirled for a Division I school as feature twirler and again, I could not escape Stars and Stripes forever as a part of the football pre-game performance. To say this version is impressive is an understatement. I have a renewed appreciation and love for John Phillip Sousa.

@@rudolfsidhu That "controversial" passage on slavery should not be controversial since it does not praise/condone slavery at all. If those who are offended by it read it and interpreted it in its context they would understand that. Unfortunately, many of them seem to be so intent on finding something "racist" about the anthem that they give no importance to context or meaning.
@rudolfsidhu

@@joaobaptista5307 LOL where did I mention about controversy on slavery? I am just talking about the arrangement and no doubt given the choice between the Star Spangled Banner and Stars and Stripes Forever I would choose the latter as the National Anthem :P
