Review of Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza, along with a comparison to Colonia Intensa. My take on which might be better of you.
Both Essenza and Intensa are 10/10. Get that out of the way. They're also very different, so you may just want to purchase both.
Essenza opens up with a huge blast of natural-smelling citrus, tart and lemon-like although listed notes are bergamot, grapefruit, orange, neroli. Well-blended to give that juicy feel. Then very quickly within minutes of wear, you get hints of herbal notes and some greenness, as well as some rose and jasmine. It still remains masculine despite the prominent floral notes. Still sharp and soapy clean at this stage. Then as your citrus leaves, you're left with a base of vetiver, oakmoss, still with a rosy nuance, creating a more powdery accord. Dries down to a more delicate, classy scent.
Intensa is much more woody, and more rugged due to the background of leather. Very heavy on cedar wood which is clean, dry, fresh, slightly sweet, but you also get a hefty dose of guiac wood to give this fragrance a smoky element. There is myrrh which adds more sweetness and balsamic touch. Overall a more dirty, slightly more masculine, but slightly less casual than Essenza.
