This was like a relaxation video! So calming! It's quite difficult at first to get this right. I trained with Young Nails, and they always said that you get good after you've done 100 sets of nails. In the beginning I used to apply way too much acrylic and would spend hours practically in tears filing and filing away until my hands ached so much (four hours for the whole process). BUT, somehow, eventually something just 'clicked' and I mastered the skill. Now, it takes me 1hour and 15 minutes, with barely any filing- they're that perfect now. And that is with using a hand held file. Last week I ordered my very first nail drill from Amazon so that I can cut my time down even further. DON'T give up!! You _will_ get there! The trick is to be aware of the mistakes you make and try to do it differently the next time. Also, never work with a dirty brush or products. I don't even apply my acrylic in exactly the same way as I was taught- like anything, you can find what works for you. But you must make sure that however you make the application, your nail is strong enough and won't break. Also, far less acrylic is applied to the bottom end of the nail than the top- this means that if you do it properly, you will only need to use a very light grit file on the bottom area of the nail that takes seconds. Good luck people- don't give up! :)

Thanks much!........I've been doing my own gel applications for about 3 months now and just did my first acrylic full set last night...I need a lot of practice to cut down on file time but it looks good.....I used Starpro from Cosmo Pro....since I don't have a comparison I wanted to know if you think I should use Young Nails or stick with StarPro?
@lampshade8818
9 жыл бұрын
It honestly doesn't matter what nail system you learn with as long as it consists of quality products and has a lot of good feedback from other nail techs (just google). I really don't think you have to spend a fortune either, but obviously some products are better than others. For instance, it's important to get a good primer because you don't want to do all that hard work and then find that the acrylic lifts. I haven't personally used Starpro myself, but I have used products from Sally's and in my opinion they are just as good as the Young Nails products! BUT, obviously, it still has a lot to do with your application (that you get better with in time). Again, any more questions- feel free to ask! I'm happy to help you in any way I can :)

i learn in a week by doing it over and over. what you do is donttt take off your nails natural shine when you practice. this way when you mess up the acrylic just pops off clean and easy. whilst youre working on the acrylic it peels off before it dries, so i just done that whenever i stuffed up
