For the creation of an upcoming abstract painting, my idea was to create cracked areas on which I could then paint on the surface with acrylic paint.
My idea is to create a painting giving an impression of aging, with rubbed, worn, damaged areas...
So I inquired about the different possible methods and I stopped on an acrylic auxiliary: The crackle paste (Crackle Paste).
So I bought a jar of Crackle Paste from the Golden brand.
Appearance of cracks after drying
After 24 hours of drying, the cracks appeared as if by magic!
You can therefore work on your materials, I recommend the following tips so that your result is interesting and convincing:
- Use a very diluted acrylic paint
- Use color combos that work together, such as sienna, burnt umber, etc.
- Sponge your diluted paint with a paper towel to give the impression of wear
- Brush with undiluted acrylic paint
In my various essays, I especially remember the one made with, among other things, the acrylic paint Terre d’Ombre Brûlée.
The impression of wear and aging is there and this opens many doors for the creation of future abstract acrylic paintings.
