And in fact for a game so realistic as Dead space, a silent protagonist sound kinda awkward, the game is almost perfect in any way, but is in during those conversations that It falls flat... It makes sense a silent protagonist for Doom Slayer he is almost as alien as the demons he faced, it kind gives and aura of a mighty archangel who does understand the language of mankind, but doesn't speak it. Even though graphically the games have aged quite well, I wouldn't mind another excuse to replay them. The other would be new entry in VR or adaptation of an existing one to VR. I feel like Dead Space is definitely one of those series that would translate better to VR than most (looking at you Far Cry 3). The in-world HUDs and inventory menus, the limb dismemberment mechanic, the suits, the horror. It's good opportunity that EA will probably miss out on, sadly.

In order to change the V-sync Value manually you must locate the settings.txt (show hidden files enabled) located at (User)\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt. once open you can change the V-sync Value from 60 to 120 (or double your Monitors Refresh rate). By doing this you should have a proper 60fps with V-sync. So in settings.txt if the V-sync Value is 60, the game will run at 30, if the value is 120 it will run at 60fps, at 240 it will run at 120fps and so on. **Please Note** you will still have potential physics and wall glitches if you run the game over 60, the game was not designed to run higher** The game engine cuts the refresh rate in half whenever you enable V-sync so doubling it in the Settings.txt "Tricks" the game into thinking it cuts it in half. BUGS & STUTTERS BE GONE!! Hope this helps.

The first Dead Space worked so well for me because it perfectly captured that isolated feeling that the first Alien movie did so well. It's an often related but rarely well done formula, and when it works it's my favorite genre.

Nah man, EA saves ruining both a game franchise and dev studio for after they release their 2nd or 3rd game. It's thanks to RE4 we got Dead Space. Big inspiration for the 1st Gears of War too. Capcom sure could use competition against RE to keep that franchise from going bad now. No Dead Space, Silent Hill, Alone In The Dark, etc now. There are two games trying to be spiritual successors to Dead Space. One is being made by former Dead Space devs. The other, Negative Atmosphere, is a neat little indie game.

@XeenoSkull, I hope so. They need the competition in the AAA market, especially after RE3 Remake and now RE Village. Hopefully, that Dead Space spiritual successor will be single player focused. Don't make the mistake that both Dead Space 3 and FEAR 3 did.

One of the best horror games of all time. When I played for the platinum, the plasma cutter only-run was actually the easiest. You unlock all the perks fast, get more ammo and get a lot better at aiming with it and you learn the flow of it. Like the amount of stopping power you need for which enemy. I felt very unstoppable.

To be honest, DS isn't the most terrifying game i have played... Alien: Isolation hold the bar higher, is absolutely terrifying be completely powerless against the alien, that in the game is basically imortal, all you can do is hide from him and pray that he doesn't smell you under a desk or find you inside a locker. Isaac was pretty much a space Rambo from the start, while Amanda Ripley was basically her mother in the first movie.

The black guy and white lady arguing trying to convince you to take the others side making you confused who the bad guy is between them was one of the highlights the sequels didn't do nearly as well, this is probably the only time I was sad the black guy died lol. I don't like when a game gets you attached to other characters on the journey just take them out in stupid ways, just look at the whole game of alien isolation.

The level design never really is so complex that the navigation path is essential, i usually find it more useful in the second game to check if i need to backtrack for stores/etc or new ones are available in the new area. But certainly there are some cases (like in Dead Space 3) where some paths seem a bit too similar (or confusing, some zero gravity areas) and it's faster to check the path. It kinda sucks that with this feature basically you never check the 3D map but i think it's interesting when games try to use that approach. Some games like Daggerfall have one that is more of a confusioning mess than something useful but it's find to check titles that try to use it. Some weeks ago for example i was replaying RE: Revelations and i found it has a 3D map, curiously a cruise ship is split in a grid of cubes, joined together where floors/rooms/corridors/etc are. Kinda interesting approach ;)

"Reads the title" Well, yeah... Until they did. Dead Space is a classic. Currently in RE marathon, playing through most mainline RE games ending with REVillage which I haven't played yet. I need to play DS trilogy again later. Currently playing RE6 and DS3 is genuinly better than RE6, even though they kind of share some of the same problems.

15:00 I just finally played through Dead Space for the first time and I almost immediately forgot about the locator. I played nearly the entire game without directions. Very rarely did I need to use the map but it was atrocious. But what stuck out to me is how I didn't need it. The ship seemed realistic enough and my objectives made clear enough that I could easily find my way around without getting lost at all. Near the end of the game I finally rediscovered the locator and I started using it quite a bit in the last two chapters. Way more than was necessary even though I probably already knew where i was going. So although it's a good feature for people who get lost easily it's also really tempting to abuse. Now that I'm on Dead Space 2 I've been using it to see the main path so I can avoid it and explore side areas first. Also similarly to the System Shock games and Resident Evil series I can still map out areas in my head well after having finished the game. Especially the early game chapters and the bridge. That's some good shit.

Unfortunately Callisto Protocol has looked fairly bad in the gameplay demos they've released recently. Underwhelming monster designs, clunky-looking movement and combat, the boring open arenas in which you can just sneak around and stealth-kill all the enemies...I'm not particularly thrilled by it so far. The Dead Space remake honestly seems to have a lot more going for it right now based on the passion the devs have expressed in demos and interviews, plus they're clearly focusing on improving on the bright spots of Dead Space, taking the best of it and making it even better. I don't get the same impression from Callisto.

I personally think that they won’t do a Dead Space trilogy remaster. Unless they change some portions of the code between them to add dlc for the first two games and some way the earn the mk-v parts without going online on the third game. Even if they release the first two without dlc for PC they still have tackle the mk-k parts situation.
@Zamusss

Wouldn't too hard, they can honestly entirely ignore the enhanced parts all together or just make them auto unlocks on NG+ or as a reward for beting the game on X difficulty.

@@Zamusss we are talking about EA. :) . And you have the example of ME Remaster collection that missed 1 or 2 dlc. Even though they weren’t very important at their time… it gives you an idea of what could happen if there was a DS collection. They could have added them but they chose not to make the effort to do it. I doubt they want to get more backlash because of differences between versions like there were between the console and pc versions of the first two DS.

@@SolSeal To be fair to Bioware, they tried to get the missing Mass Effect DLC back, but some of the source code was missing. They explained it in great lenghts during an interview, having contacted old members of the studios, trying to find the physical hard drives used 15 years ago to see if something was on there, etc, it's not about an "effort" to make, the material was just lost, hard to do anything about that ... The could have remade it from scratch, but it wouldn't fit the game at all and stand out like a sore thumb. (Pinnacle Station was really useless and boring anyway, it was just a "gun course" DLC on a space station with no tie to the main plot in a game where gunplay was a weak point)
