Hey Jenna, great job! There's a lot of Pollock-esque videos out there, most of them miss the mark. I believe you have captured the fundamental approach that Jackson was trying to communicate. Thank you!

Greetings from Ukraine! I am going to do some Pollock inspired painting myself and I'm glad that I found this video. And I really like the colors you choose.

Hi Jenna. I'm about to start my first Pollock-like piece of work, a practice run on a small canvas. I stumbled across your video and wanted to let you know that I found it really helpful and inspirational, thank you. Nick

Great painting! Did you use oil or water based enamel paint? I've been avoiding using raw canvas with my oil enamel paints as I heard it will rot the canvas. Also, do you use gloss, satin or matt paint? Thanks!

Jenna, do you recommend applying a protective finish over Pollock-style drip paintings made from latex enamel and/or acrylics? Have you discussed this topic in any of your KZitem videos?

Hi there! Thank you for watching. I’m sorry I’m just seeing this now. I haven’t really made many varnish/clear coat videos but I think that’s a wonderful idea! I’m working on designs for my next 5 murals right now, but I will start posting more videos fairly soon. I didn’t add a varnish to this particular painting. I feel like it might yellow over time considering it is an unprimed canvas…I’ll do some research. Thanks for the input!

One of the best videos on drip painting I've seen so far! You unlike many added many layers and didn't leave really any white space untouched. One day I'll do a canvas I just need to get over the feeling of copying Jackson. . But did painters after the first cubism artist feel that way? I wonder.. subbed..

This is one of the best Pollock recreations I've seen!!! I'm definitely going to try this myself. Did you add water to your paint? I've been using acrylic paint put the color breaks down too much.
@JennaRiceArt
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I didn’t add any water since I mainly used house paint. It’s typically thinner than the usual acrylic paint (and cheaper). If you use acrylics, try adding a pouring medium and a little water. If you add too much water, the acrylic polymers separate too much and the paint will lose its color. There are other methods to thin acrylic paint also. Maybe refer to my video about pour painting- that could help!

Hi Jenna! I really like this video so much and have already tried three times to paint a Pollock picture with acrylic paint. In Germany I can only get enamel colours in white, they are not available in colour. However, there are always a lot of air bubbles in the colours, which don't look nice when dry. Is this normal or what can I do to prevent this from happening? Thank you very much for your answer!

Your vid is the best I have watched on here of this style painting :) What type of house paint is this? High gloss? interior? thx
@JennaRiceArt
3 жыл бұрын
Awe, thank you so much! Honestly, this was just a mix of housePaints. Some were latex, some enamel, etc. However, if you want to replicate this technique, I’d suggest your typical interior satin house paint (enamel). This was more for experimentation and fun... I wouldn’t say this is archival quality.

Hi there! Thank you so much for watching. ❤️I buy rolled, unprimed canvas online via Jerry’s Artarama. I’m restarting my channel again and will elaborate on the rest, but basically, you can also buy the stretcher bars (the wooden frame pieces) online, tack those together, then stretch your canvas over the frame. I’ll be sure to make another video soon that explains this. You’re not the only one who has asked this.
