How do you react to stunts? If i aim for insid shoulder to outside shoulder but eg my defender slants to the inside and the next guy in the area is a LB coming downhill, how do i reajust?

Good coaching points... I use a "Near to Far" concept on my outside zone schemes.

Krazy71 awesome. Big push to keep helmet/head out of coaching language. Love it

Great video....I agree with this completely. I like teaching the far to far technique. Get your BS shoulder to and through the defender's PS shoulder bringing hips with you on the move all while (owning the angle) as OLP says. All of this is first possible by exploding from stance in at the proper 45°angle. I do not believe in the mantra, loose ground to gain ground on outside zone. Offensive Line Athletes should NOT give defenders anything except unyielding purposeful punishment to the ECHO OF THE WHISTLE!

In the video you guys put out a little while back about reach blocks, CJ used the cue of getting your inside pocket to the defender's outside pocket. Could that cue apply to both inside and outside zone?

Jim Lessick Appreciate you commenting. The pocket to defenders outside pocket is another good way to teach zone. But it depends on what you’re looking for. Some coaches want players to drive more towards the sideline, thus pocket to pocket works. But some coaches want more upfield push, thus inside shoulder to outside shoulder. Either way, the key point is to get away from the helmet as teaching point.

C. J. Davis also played for the Seahawks, Panthersand Broncos. Players do go undrafted and still get signed by NFL teams.

@@OL_COACH well hes not even currently on a nfl team so obviously hes not a good enough player or strong enough and he went undrafted for a reason teams didnt want him

Is it possible to run block without hat contact On the highschool level with weaker athletes?

HAASPT2 you don’t win blocks with your head AT any level. Blocks are won/loss with the hips and hands. So, yes you can. Appreciate the question.

Do you have any actionable language for down blocks other than "get your head in front of the defender"?
