At this time of widespread alarm about the state of the world, there is a great need for us to cultivate the practice of Active Hope. Drawing on the transformative work of author and spiritual activist Joanna Macy, we will look at Active Hope both as something we do and as something that can happen through us. This lecture will introduce a simple daily practice that can help activate this type of hope and sustain it as an energy of engagement that positively impacts our lives, our relationships, and our world. We will also look at obstacles to active hope, and explore insights and practices that help us when we’re feeling overwhelmed or at a loss, with a framework of empowerment, resilience, and creative power.
