I have such a fascination with Greece and so glad to see you guys in the lesser known parts. Just casual peacocks running around LOL. Whenever I see you guys walking across Aqueducts I just think"man they're brave". I have such a fear of heights. Those ancient sites are so amazing but just the sheer scenery around them is worth the admission. Great video!

Thanks so much!! The cities, beaches, and food are great, but I really wish the history was a bigger part of travel KZitem. We only made it a third of the way across the aqueduct. hahaha :D

i was told Venetians bred pigeons for eggs, the holes are for nests. Some houses have them too.

ahhhh I did not know that about the Venetians. have seen man made pigeon roosts before in England. They used them to get the pigeons and their eggs! Maybe they did use the sides of the viaduct for pigeon eggs :O

Yeah, when crowded, even I think I wouldn’t like Knossos. But all those aqueducts were the best!

Great video. Lived in Thessaloniki back in 2006 and got a chance to visit Chania but didn't get a change to see Knossos. I might have to make it a priority on my next trip back to Greece now!

If the explanations I heard at Guedelon castle is anything to go by, the holes are what they used for sticking their bits of scaffolding in, to be able to keep building higher and higher.

I was wondering if that might be it. A classic technique. But that sure would be a lot of scaffolding, plus the other aqueducts didn’t have it? Still, that could be it.

Pigeon keeping Venetians. The eggs were much in demand. So I was told, might be wrong. Have a look at the Kalergis Villa, in Rogdia, not far from Heraklio.
