In 1992 I was on the crew for the small tour that Adam funded himself to start promoting the Wonderful album. It was before his real tour for the album. We started out in a van and then moved up to a tour bus. My first tour bus and I was the only stupid American bird on the bus. Marco was named "king whinger". He had every right to be bitter. It was like a club tour. I'm so proud and amazed that Adam gave me a 'thank you' on the credits of the album. He dedicated this song to me when we were at our Palm Springs Venue. He dedicated it to someone different every night, Palm Springs happened to be my night!. He was WONDERFUL to work with and he has a heart of gold. Cheers Stuart Leslie Goddard!!

I think I saw him on the tour you're talking about. My girlfriend always wanted to see him and out of nowhere we found out he was coming to San Francisco. I don't even remember hearing this song at this point. So we went and saw him at The Warfield and Boz Boorer was the guitarist. Great show but the place was maybe half full. We sat up in the mostly empty balcony. I think Babes in Toyland were the opening act. Can't listen to this song without remembering that time in my life.

Too many people just listen to songs and if they think about the artists they think everything must be amazing. Those people with artistic ability usually have lots of mental problems which is a sad thing. Adam has been making music since the early 1980's and to me that means he has been hit so hard from his problems but he is stronger then many, many people because he kept at it. I tip my hat to him cause I know the kind of strength that requires!

@@jenniferdietl7702 Tony died in 1994 but that was kind of the style he was going for in a lot of the music videos he wrote, directed, and produced. Similar images used in Morbid Angel and DRI videos that he did. or Mommygod, he did all thier videos.

@@jenniferdietl7702 The way I see it, he's revisiting the town of an old love, watching her get married to another man from afar. As he tours through the town in a taxi, he reviews how much he misses her, his regrets about taking her for granted, and difficulty controlling his temper. He sees and remembers the people around her...the shopkeepers, her family, the priest, and of course her husband to be. In his mind, the town is a dirty and dismal place, full of seemingly ordinary people, but underneath, they are grimy and grotesque. She is the only wonderful pure being amidst all the darkness. As he gets close enough to see the wedding procession, he sees her stop a moment, trailing behind her husband hesitantly. As she looks up and glances at him, he pictures her wearing a stained dress, and a crown and blindfold of thorns, underlining the sadness of the event and imagining her to be suffering and settling for a man not worthy of her. He does not, however, get out of the taxi. He rides on, seemingly accepting that it's "really over", the unfortunate consequences of his actions.

I am 22 years old, found this song when I was 18.. in 99% I only listen to songs from 90s and earlier to 50s… When someone plays a song for example from 2005 it seems new to me. So I would say I know there are so many underrated songs and artists from that time. But to see this only has 1 million views on the most viewed clip on KZitem is truly insane. This should have been a hit song. I wish I was born 50 years ago and had the experience of hearing songs like this when they came out… In my opinion no one in the last 20 years came close to what music was done in the last century… very weird feeling for me

The best thing is i have over 500 songs in my playlist from 60s-80s that I gain listen to over and over agian plus I listen to some more which are not there and I still rarely find something I like and haven’t heard. But what am I gonna do in 30 years..? I hope it’ll still sound like now, you tell me haha. I think this song is about Karen Landau since she got married to Michael Praed (hence the bride in the video) and Adam always talks about how he wrote the song 2 years after a relationship ended. I'm still in love with Adam ant after all these years! There's just something about his voice that gets me every time I listen to him. I was a huge ants fan back in the day and still listen now. I miss those days for all the creativity. I remember looking forward to the next song and the next song. You never knew what was coming from car trouble to kings to Prince charming. What amazing music!

☆ Seems like too many missed the real message in the song. Such an intense deep dark apology tis extremely touching for those who can relate; yet too many miss I guess...

Going back to living in London for Adam; was the only way to deal. Was the anger for him being in the mental ward?He wanted to hit her because he wanted life with her so much;as she would visit him at the ward he was in.Maybe she had already broke it off with him and just being kind.

Fun fact: this song is about the end of his relationship with Heather Graham, the actress. The face he "almost hit" was hers.

The song is actually about Karen Landau, the girl from the Puss 'n Boots video. Adam had an on-and-off relationship with her for about eight years. She later married actor Michael Praed and had two children. In this interview he says 'she's married with a kid'. Heather has never been married or had any children. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qZyMmJ-JZmaappw
