Burgess Meredith was someone Adam West really enjoyed working with. Outside of "Batman," Burgess Meredith is probably most known for his role as Rocky's manager. But I have a weakness for his role as the wise and fatherly poet in "Clash of the Titans" (1981).

@@dwashbur And in the sad "Of Mice and Men" (1939). Adam West was actually surprised that Burgess Meredith enjoyed working on 'Batman' so much. On a funny note, Burgess used to complain that the Penguin's trick umbrellas never quite off when they were supposed to. (Probably a frequent cause of retakes.)

I just love how the prison CCTV system does close ups and tracking shots. Great picture quality as well. Of course, since Penguin only took out one camera to take it down, the prison must have a great editor to splice it all together. Technology in TV shows must have gotten worse. They don't have those close ups or tracking shots, but security cameras are often pointed in random directions outside stores, perfectly catching people or cars in the center frame. The loss of that tracking shot and close up technology is compensated by the magic zoom / enhance button. So maybe it all balances out in the end.

'Ere, if Penguin bugged that umbrella, how come he didn't hear Batman plan to send Bruce Wayne in to his place to plant a bug of his own?

I love this show so much. While I am a child of the 80s I remember seeing the reruns of this show and falling in love with it. I can't wait for the next episode and I am happily subscribed to your channel.

Yes... But since you don't have a steady schedule on when you make your reviews (which is understandable since there are more important things to deal with in rea life), I just thought I could ask for an ETA for your next one...

+MrEdcar007 You make a valid point. Now that most of the technical (and health) issues have been resolved, the tentative goal is to put out a game or song review near the beginning of each month. The actual target is the first Tuesday of the month, subject to adjustment based on who knows what (as usual). Adamania is a little different: part 1 appeared this past Saturday, part 2 will appear next Saturday, then we'll skip a week, then the following Saturday will see part 1 of the next story. I should be able to maintain that pattern at least through the rest of this year. As always, the operative word there is "should."

I remember this episode when it was first run. I was 11. I had not seen The Penguin in the Batman comics before this. I had seen the promos for the episode and thought that he was The Toyman, a Superman foe I'd seen in some older story reprints. I had forgotten about the KG Bird pseudonym, but remember PN Guinn from the movie when he bought the submarine under that name. Decades later in the Animated Series, The Joker got a hotel room under the name Joe Kerr. I just now discovered your page and am checking out the vids on Batman 66 and the Superman cartoons of the same era.
