Historians Jeanne Fogle and Eddie Becker discuss the history of Washington DC's Adams Morgan neighborhood. The present day Adams Morgan is a new name that incorporates several older areas, including Kalorama Triangle, Washington Heights, Reed-Cooke, and Lanier Heights. The area was originally farmland but in the late 19th century, Mary Foote Henderson had a number of beautiful large homes constructed, which became embassies in Washington DC. Other builders followed suit and built townhouses and luxury apartments in DC for Adams Morgan's emerging wealthy class. When the community integrated, it combined the names of the Adams school (a White school) and the Morgan school (a Black school) to create Adams Morgan.
