I used a kicker amp with auto-on one time in a situation where i could not get a remote wire. Worked great

Kinda late reply but I have a slight improvement to offer so you will probably never have to charge that battery again. You can use a 8-40V converter to step down the voltage from 16V to 12V, on the other end just use a DC-DC 12v battery charger to top off the battery & provide power-on signal for your amp. Do remember to limit the charge rate to 8A or lower. I use mine occasionally at 10A and the inlet gets quite hot. Also for cold climate, AGM/SLA actually works better than LFP but if your place never get below freezing you can enjoy LFP. If you have a better platform to discuss outside KZitem like Discord or Messenger etc lmk.

Why not just use something like audio control LC2i it has the great turn on GTO function to turn on your amp when it receives audio signal?
@createwithn8

Great question and here's why...I actually have one and tried it. Then I found out that there is ALWAYS audio signal coming across the speakers...ALL THE TIME. Even when your car has been parked overnight. The signal is there so the amp stays on. It's like this on all newer Teslas that have a 15v backup battery system. On the 12v Teslas the LC2i works fine. I had mine connected to my 2018 Model S for this reason.

I just went to my model y 2023 and the LC2i turned off thus turning off the amp after I left the car. I used the dc/dc connection under the backseat to power both amp and LC2i Both LC2i and amp turns back on when I enter the car

Can you explain a bit more on the way you tapped into the sub to get the signal cables to plug into the amp? I'm doing my install tonight 😊
@createwithn8

Sure! Just pull back the carpeting around the existing sub...its a bit tricky but once you get access to the factory harness just unplug it then stick two wires (one for + and one for -) into each of the harness terminals. Then just click the harness back together. This way your factory sub still gets its audio feed too. You basically are just splicing into the line without cutting. Does that make sense?

@@markbiscocho1284 Hey Mark, actually I plugged the existing amp out into my amp so I was able to control the sub bass line from my cars touchscreen. @createwithn8

Actually I do need it. The relays are 12-14v...I tried on direct and it burned up. Hence the reason for the step down. I tried connecting the output of the stepdown directly to the amp remove turn on and it wouldn't turn on. I think it's due to a grounding issue with how that particular circuit is wired in the car.

@createwithn8

LOL Thanks. No need for any other sort of signal booster or line in. All that is needed is a direct tap to the existing Tesla subwoofer leads to get your audio source. That way you can control the sub volume level right on your touchscreen.
@biga48197
Жыл бұрын
So you used a hi/lo convertor to tap into the stock subwoofer?
@createwithn8
Жыл бұрын
Hey! Nope no converter needed at the subwoofer at all. This is a stand alone battery system that doesn't draw any power from the car itself. It does get the audio signal from the stock subwoofer harness. All you have to do is unplug the existing sub hardness, stick in your left and right channel leads that go to your amp, plug that stock harness back in. This way the stock stub works too. There is a hi/lo converter that takes the 15.5v signal that comes from the center console and converts it to 12v for amp turn ON/OFF but that's it. All amp power comes from the closed system LiPO battery. Does all that make sense?

Hey I used this "ULTRAPOWER 4-Amp 14.6 Volt LiFePO4 Battery Charger,12.8 Volt LiPO Lithium Battery Charger" from Amazon. Also for tapping into the signal just find the sub harness...its in the back right side of the trunk...you'll have to pull back some carpet. It's a clip harness so just unclip it, then insert two wires in, one for the pos and one for neg and then run those wires into one of these "Lollipop Speaker Wire Cable to Audio Male RCA Connector Adapter Jack Plug 10pcs/Se" (Amazon) and plug that into your AMP.

What color wires could I use for the right connection
@createwithn8
6 ай бұрын
@@bigspoon34So I couldn't say what color for sure but you should have a harness that you can unclick from the sub. Just unplug it and you should only see two metal post on the male side. One is + and one is -. Just connect a wire directly to your sub then strip the other ends of the wire back so that some copper is showing and touch one wire to each posts. If you don't get sound coming out of the speaker then switch them. It won't hurt anything and once you know which is which then connect a wire to each post (or you can remove some of the wire covering) and then bring the other end of that cable to the amp audio in. You'll probably need an RCA to wire terminal adapter to connect to the amp. Does all that make sense?

Do i have to use a relay for a co stant 12v? I have everything setup but no sound . The lc1i gets power a d also the amp shows power but no sound out of soundwoofer any? suggestions 5:04
@createwithn8
6 ай бұрын
Hey so the relay is only for the 12v AMP REMOTE TURN ON INPUT not the 12v power source the amp needs to make sound. Also, I didn't even use an LC1...I went directly from the stock subwoofer harness into the amps RCA inputs. You'll need to get a couple of those little adapters I linked in the description though to convert from wires to RCA. You literally just unclip the existing factory sub, stick two wires into the hardness that comes from the factory amp and then re-click it back in with the factory sub. Now you have sound coming right from the Tesla amp going to your new amp in. Make sense?

Hi, if you have 12v in your car that means it's older then 2021. You can connect your amp directly to the 12v batter terminal and a grounding point on the car chassis. Model 3s have them under the seat but pretty sure even the older Model S are all under the hood. Make sure you use proper gage wire for your amp or you'll start a fire.
