You can also do like this: Let (log_2 [x]) =x x³=x/3 3x³=x 3x²=1 3x²-1=0 x=(√3)/3, x=-(√3)/3 [rejected] 2^(√3 /3)=1.4921

@3:24, it is better not to cancel too early because there can be another solution. Just bring over the term on the RHS to the LHS and factorise.

Claire Li you are right if we are doing trigonometry or exponential question, but not log question, because “log a “can’t equal to zero , so we can just cancel it out .

@@mathew_pang If the restriction x>1 is not given then x=1 can be a solution. In general, we factorize and so that x=1 is rejected because of the given restriction.

I think 'log a' can be zero, but as the range given, so the answer obtained which is "1" will be rejected.

Claire Li ya u are right , log x = 0 will be always 1. I messed up with log 0 . Thanks for the correction 👍🏼

Can't i cuberoot the entire eq Log2x=1/3log8x.
@mathisfun1733
4 жыл бұрын
No. After cuberoot, at RHS, the power of ⅓ belongs to the whole log, which means it will be (log8x)⅓ ≠ 1/3log8x

Only when x⅓ the equation can be cuberoot bcome 1/3log8x but in video case the 1/3 belongs to whole log
