I've been meaning to learn this stuff a long time. I used simple human rigs and even fully made my own rigs for creatures, but I always wondered about the best way to deal with the little dangly bits :D

@@AcademicPhoenixPlus I have a question. What is the difference between 'Bind skin' and 'add influence'? for me it looks like they do the same thing, which is connecting the joints to mesh. Isn't it basically the same? I don't understand why some tutorials ask us to do 'Bind skin' while some others do 'add influence'. I will really appreciate it if you explain it to me. Thank you.

Great tutorial, you can do a export tutorial? when i export to fbx, in blender or in cinema4d doesn't recognise the animation, the motion trail doesn't work. Tanks!

So add influence is just like if you did bind skin or something like that? Or is it doing something else? Edit: it adds new bones to the existing geometry that is already skinned?

@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Hi Monica. You know....still using the Blender software. This free software, we've made friends. The company I work for did say they'd purchase a maya for me to work in, but you know, I stuck thorugh it, gritted my teeth left and right, and just powered thorugh it. So they didnt need to get it - extra brownie points for me. Look, it has a lot of things I'd change, but overall....it's actually pretty damd good. Especially the renderer. The UV mapping system is still really crappy, and it takes me about 3x longer to uv map anything in that horrible UV system.... but other than that....I guess it's pretty damn good. And free. But I'll be getting into the rigging part really soon, so, I'll let you know about that soon. But so far, I've got the 3D modelling / texturing sorted. They've got this really good nodes system...which is a lot of times above my paygrade (or comprehension)....so that one, I'm still working on.... Yourself, have you ever played around with Blender? Simply out of curiosity?
