I'm about to do that same mod to my SV06 Plus, though I haven't had any clogs, at least not yet. I remixed the fan mount (2nd one in the video) by cutting away a big chunk of it because it seems there is just too much material in it - no need to cover the whole side of the extruder. Saves material and weight.

New subscriber here. Thank you for these Sovol tips. Just recently got the sv06 plus and your experiences have helped me with the klipper upgrade. Just a side note about the heatcreep issues; Sovols factory profile seems to me sets the temp way to high for pla and this causes heatcreep in all metal hotends running pla especially if your retraction setting is higher than .5.

I have a SV06 Plus with Klipper as well. Which factory profiles do you mean, in which Slicer? I haven't had any issues with Prusa Slicer. I have been printing PLA at 200-220 C without any problems, the longest print I had up to now was about 8 hours, 17mm3 & 80mm/s max speeds, 0.8mm layer width with a 0.4 nozzle.

I purchased my SV06 in March of '23. It appears that they had added a second fan on the print head which protrudes out under the extrusion wheel. ;| I want to add an endoscope to video the nozzle, but from what I've seen on your videos, I'll need to remove that second fan. Unless you can suggest a better way, my thought is that I'll remove both fans, add a 5015 using the offset mount above and then use your endoscope mount. I can send a pic of the stock 2-fan head if you have a way to receive. Cheers.

Hey, do you mean this fan? tinyurl.com/4zr675rj If so, it's on all of them. You have to remove the screws and the bracket holding it on (the two holes left on the hot end is where you will mount the nozzle cam bracket). I made this video ( kzitem.info/news/bejne/ya1pn55rfYhmaYI ) which goes more in depth, and in the description are the fans I used and everything you need. The only difference is that I had to use this fan shroud ( www.printables.com/model/483474 ) instead of the one from that video to work with the nozzle cam. Unfortunately, some soldering will be needed because the plugs on the fans are different sizes (explained better in the video). Hope this helps! Must be nice, my heat block wires are siliconed in place... I'll just have to get a new hot end. Too scared I'm going to break everything trying to get the silicone off.

I honestly don't understand the need for cooling on anything except bridges. I've been 3D printing for close to four years, and the most important lesson I've learned is that part-cooling fans are a sure-fire way to have parts separate themselves from the print bed, unless you tell the slicer to leave fans off for the first 150 layers. And then when the fan does come on, I see no difference whatsoever in the part. Maybe it's for printing at over 150mm/s?
@Avel

Bridges and overhangs are both improved with the fans. I hear you, though. In my experience, yes, they're more useful with faster printing. I had the same stock fans on my Ender 3 Pro and CR6 for years without any issues. This particular fan, though, keeps the filament from melting inside the heat break and causing a clog. I didn't experience this issue until I started printing faster. My guess would be that it has to do with the faster retraction speeds.

How’s the volume on this? Trying to make my sv06 quieter while keeping good speeds
@Avel

I hear you. That's a tough thing to balance. I wish there were speed controls for this fan because it is louder than I'd like but I guess it's the trade-off for speed. It is louder for sure, but the stock power supply fan is still the loudest fan on my printer. That'll be next, or just a whole different power supply.

Are you talking about something like this? www.thingiverse.com/thing:3742240 If so, I've had one on my Ender 3 for years without issue. It's great for redirecting sound, but since mine is now on my desk close to the wall it just reflects the sound back at me off the wall 😆

Nice video! I did the other blower fan mod you posted a while ago and printed the air ducts in ABS but I found that they would warp when I printed ABS. So I switched back to the stock setup since I don't need the extra cooling. This looks pretty smart though, and now I have just the fan kicking around! How's noise compared to stock? I find the stock fan to be pretty loud already.

I appreciate you watching! I wish there were speed controls for this fan because it is louder than I'd like but I guess it's the trade-off for speed/better cooling. It is a bit louder for sure, but the stock power supply fan is still the loudest fan on my printer. If you're having heat creep issues, the noise is a lot easier to deal with than cleaning a clog every other print.

@@Avel Good point, although I haven't had any full clogs yet after 300h or so, just one partial one early on. Mostly prints last in the 2-3h range but I've run up to 10h without issue.

I hear you. I didn't have any issues with clogging until I put the Klipper screen on. And I had done 7+ hour prints before that without issue. I'm guessing the increased speed with Klipper doesn't allow enough cooling before retracting the filament back into the heat break. I'm not positive, though, I can only guess. If you're upgrading to Klipper, I'd say it's a necessary upgrade, based solely on my experience. If you're staying stock, I wouldn't be too concerned.
