Hello friends! The past year we have created... a lot of leftover / scrap fiber. In the final video of 2022 you saw me blend the scraps on my drum carder (link: • Spinning Sock Yarn out... ). Today we're going to add some more color and strength to these scrap sockyarn blend batts by adding some acrylic to it. I card up some ends of acrylic yarn with my handcarders and then add them to the mix.
Then we will spin this colourful chaotic mass into sockyarn, on my vintage double drive wheel Bernadette, a Toika Irene spinningwheel. And when the yarn is all done, I'm knitting it into a pair of socks using the toe-up method, an afterthought heel and just general guessing and gauging.
The main fiber used to create this yarn and chief lanolin supllier is some spotted sheep fleece, blended with some colourful naturally dyed flemish sheep wool and recycled acrylic yarn.
The end result reminds me very much of impressionist paintings. What do you yhink?
