You could also use that "dead" unlit end space as a filter segment, fill it with bio media, carbon bags and dacron filter wool, just run your sponge filter outlet over to it. This would filter the water and create some gentle flow through the whole tank. 👍🙂🇦🇺🐠🐟

I'm wondering if you moved the lights so they cover the outer 4 sections of the tanks on each side making the 2 non-lit sections in the middle and next to each other so they can share 1 light? Might save you an outlet!

A big tip, plants are a must lol getting them to actually spawn has been my biggest challenge. I do have a dragon spawn that’s a little over 3 months old now but it was difficult lol I raised them in a 3.5 gal until 3 weeks old and then moved them to a 10 gal. There are only 17 of them so the 10 gal should be a nice grow out.

I am curious about the water flow between the compartments. I tried the dividers and even with holes, it didn't flow very well. It's emergency storage, really! I also don't think 4 gallons is too small of a space size-wise, I just warn people against smaller volumes of water because they're harder to maintain when it comes to water quality

@Alicia P my Midnight Male is in a 2.5 and he's cool. I'm able to change or add a bit of water almost daily using a baster. With the 2.5 I will change about 2 1\2 cup's every other day. The baster is cool because you can get very specific in regards to where you suck up detritus. Sometimes I will squirt the water into a very fine net over a bowl and return the water if I don't actually see any detritus.

Betta fish deserves 5 gallon tank anything less isn't right. People need to get that idea out their head they belong in small 3 gallon tanks or bowls, no fish belong in a bowl they have no room to actually swim around. It may seem happy but probably isn't

Probably well after you've sorted out the light issue... but if you get a couple of lengths of chrome pipe, bend it into a right angle shape over the top ... have it come up from the back legs, to about a foot over the top of the tank, bring it out to about half-tank width, and bend it 90 degrees again and run it over the length of the shelf and reverse it down to the other leg of the shelves. Then, drill through the pipe, run some picture frame wire through the hole and wrap it around the arms of those big lights. Adjust the cable until you can get the whole tank lit. I have 3 paradise fish in a single tank. They are like little puppies and chase me around when I walk through the room. I did have 5 paradise fish, but two of them got sick... and went over the rainbow bridge... or the fence next to the garage... one of the two :D
