Always such great lessons, brother! Everything I’ve ever seen you teach is practical stuff that you will actually USE on stage. A lot of what you cover I have been using for years and it works incredibly well for improvising live over chord progressions that guitarists actually encounter on gigs. Usually, though, there is little twist you throw in that I never thought of, even though I use the overall concept. The rest of the stuff you teach that I don’t know, I steal immediately 😈 Your material and teaching style is perfect for the intermediate to advanced player and you treat it as such. In other words, you don’t waste time explaining how to play individual chords, or get bogged down in ideas that accomplished players already know. There are plenty of lessons I’ve seen you do for beginners and I’m sure in those you do explain all the basics, but what I appreciate most is that you seem to know your target audience for each individual lesson, depending on how advanced the concept is, and you teach accordingly. Incredibly cool ideas, practical ideas that players can actually use on the bandstand, and you always keep my attention because you only focus on the important parts of each concept, line, or idea. All that adds up, in my opinion (as little as that’s worth 😂), to you being one of the best players and teachers on KZitem, if not my favorite. You deserve FAR more subscribers, brother, and I wish you the best of luck getting them. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your content that you readily offer all of us FREE OF CHARGE! It is appreciated 🤘

Thanks so much for the lesson. This kinda stuff just stumps me if someone says hey play me some blues in A off the cuff. I know it’s experience, maybe, but I don’t have forty years to figure it out. I’m already 65 and I try to cram as much as I can every day and still work enough to pay the bills. I work off of two sites with thousands of lessons and songs at my disposal but if I’m not sitting in front of the computer and someone says hey show us what you can do I’d be like “huh”!. I know this may sound funny but its no joke. I want to learn how to just pick it up and go, no computer no drum machine no metronome just me. There’s my rant, back to computer I guess. P S it’s not that Bad maybe 🤔😬 thanks Corey your lessons are 👍

I laugh when shredders say blues is easy. When you see the bag of tricks this guy has, you clearly see how deep it can go. Playing these ideas with tone and feel within the timing is what the speed guys miss, and lose their soul and lyricism in the process.

Todd, I indeed second your articulate thoughts. I will take Corey's tasteful and soulful expressions every time over shred (though he can do that too). When I tune into one of Corey's generous lessons, he always expands my approach and thinking about the instrument and leaves me awestruck at his many accomplished styles (of which his masterful take on the blues is but one). Corey's playing is the answer to the question: "How badly do you want this?". It is abundantly evident that this young man has put in the work. I may be a long way from executing his teaching, but his inspiration never misses a beat.

I decided today to be more intentional with my scales and chords. I wanted to learn more four note chords (and found this video). I couldn't make out that third G7 shape shape (as the other two were CAGED shapes). But when I applied your Dominant 7 course knowledge to it, I can directly see it coming out of that third scale shape. Well it's just one of those mornings where things are clicking.

The concept is using inversions to climb the fretboard. G7 has 4 notes, giving us a root position and 3 inversions (4 different chord tones for "bass" notes). It's a great strategy that you can apply to other types of chords in other styles.

fantastic lesson - I really love these simple ideas you show for making solos and finding tones on the neck. The real value of them is that they embed a really good chunk of theory in your brain by tricking you into thinking that you're not actually thinking about theory; you're just having fun. Oh yeah, and that is one really sweet looking Casino, too. I'm in love.
