Great scenery my friend, very similar look to what I am trying to achieve with my layout. Very similar techniques to how I remember modelling many years ago on my early layouts. Thanks for sharing and all the best, Paul

The OHLE looks great. You must have the patience of a saint! That overall scene though is really coming together. The view looking down towards the tunnels with the car park and wall on one side and the embankment on the other looks very photogenic and a great advert for n gauge.

Interesting approach using guitar string. I’m curious why you didn’t just use manufactured catenary wire solutions such as Viessmann 4358.

I did look at these but was unsure if they'd be compatible with the dapol masts and n brass gantries

well done. dapol should make the wire spans to attach to their masts! would save a lot of extra work with guitar strings.

Agreed! Though I can imagine they'd be difficuilt to manufacture to scale

@@greatdeltan6556 i think volmer or viesmann made wires in ho scale but yeh not simple to manufacture and probably not much of a market in n gauge yet. with the pendolino, iet, class 92s, eurostar and others maybe in the future peco or dapol could make the wires for n gauge though.

Fantastic, and what an amazing result, very effective. Are you gluing your pantographs in places as not to knock off the wires? I will be certainly adding the masts, still deciding about the wires, although I really like the idea of guitar strings. I may try nylon too, we’ll see. Thank you for showing this
@greatdeltan6556

Thank you! And yes, they are easily knocked off when track cleaning. I assume you'll be 3D printing your masts? As I wouldn't recommend the N brass gantries for massive quantity, they take a long time to finish. Look forward to seeing this at Picadilly though. Also, had a wander into Wellingborough model shop the other day, not a bad little place

Yes I will be 3d printing the masts, still a little while off. Yes Julian has a nice lil shop there, been a while since I went in, but glad he’s survived the lockdowns. There is Osbornes in Rushden and The Model Shop in Npton as you probably know. All great and easily accessible for both of us.

excellant works ---- love this using guitar wire ect . on kings park we use somerfeldt wires solderd in position , the pantography does touch BUT two problems arise - 1 - the loco must go in direction of pantography or it will snag 2 - puts a little pressure on the body and chassis wich in turn can burn out the moters ...... in time ....... what a super layout GREAT DELTAN has become - please keep the videos comming - andy

Thank you for the comment, due to these being suspended from fairly weak masts, it was never an intention to have the pantographs touching, though my DCC sound voyager used to pull the wires down everytime it went under the OHLE due to proximity of the speaker and it's magnetism

G'day mate. Good effort and it looks good to. Can I ask what height the contact wire is set at please? You've given me the courage to have a go myself. I got hold of .5mm brass wire/ rod [ K&S] and that is working real good. Easy to bend and being brass it solders easy as well. I'm using .75mm for the top wire just to hold things a bit more rigid.
