After using the plastic window coverings that taped on one year, I wanted something better, less messy and mostly, reusable.
After seeing a video using a metal frame covered with the plastic window covering to seal the window on the inside, I decided to see if I could do the same.
My first issue was having Vertical blinds, which prevent placing anything on the inside. So, I took a look at the outside frame where the window screen fits and figured out a way to create a reusable & removable storm window to fit into window screen channel.
By making the metal frame about 3/16" narrower and 1/8" shorter than the original screen frame with the Flex-Glass and adding a rubber gasket all the way around the frame, it sets into place and creates an airtight seal keeping the drafts out.
The last sections deal with creating the same storm window for an Anderson double sash windows at a friend's home, and some tips on installing the Flex-Glass to the metal frame preventing wrinkles and frame distortion.
Most of the materials were bought from Zoro.
